Gorgar Playfield repair question?
« on: June 19, 2009, 10:32:42 PM »
Gorgar playfield repair question. I am looking at 1 remaing section of Gorgar playfield and not quite sure of best way to progress?

Origional shows the damage. test shows my current work in progress but changes.

I was thinking fix with photoshop, make water slide transfer, remove mylar, paste waterslide, then Mylar.

Any ideas?

I'm a little confused - I see mylar there already - and what appears to be a touch up around the 15,000 insert ?

There is mylar there. Although thinner than usual.

The touch ups are over the Mylar at present.

I think you will need to remove the mylar to repair the section but your color matching looks good but painting that 5 will be a killer

You are right. No other 5's on this machine to copy either. Anyone know the font used here or where a similar font of 5 can be found?

I agree with Daniel - Remove the mylar before touching up - However - Removing mylar may make things worse in other areas of the playfield. If you accidentally lift paint in another area, just so you can fix that small area you have touched up - then you have gone backwards !

Then again, if the mylar is thin - then it is NOT mylar - it will be "contact" adhesive. In my experience - this stuff comes off EASY.

However - Mylar removal is totally your decision.

The "5 minute fix" is to work out how to replicate the number "5", then paint or use a decal. You will have to place a small piece of mylar over your repair !

Got em. Thanks. I would not have picked that shape for number 5. Thank you very much.

Now off with the Mylar and on with the job. I will post photos when I am done..

Appreciate the advice and help Gents!
