Yep thats right I'd rather a new pinball than choclate!! picked her up last night and what potental she has, just needs a playfield strip and massive clean as she's dirty and the mylar removed which I also did with my WH20 so I'm up for the challenge. Gotta love bringing a machine back to life although my works no where near what sum of you guys do but all the same she will look pretty bloody good. I'll need to order the fish decals and what not but I'm wrapped ^^^. Plastics and ramps are excellent so no need to buy those.
Pictures to follow.

Definately looking forward to the photos & vids! Should come up a treat with Pete's work and definitely a bargain.

Thanks guys heres some pictures and don't be scared she already looks alot better-she has heaps of potential and I'll have her looking great soon. I reckon the rubbers are factory original and thanks god it was mylared.
-
wow,
That is dirty,
-
It still amazes me how people can let a machine get to that state.
Great stuff Mr Gorgar, looking forward to the vid. She'll be sparkling in no time.
-
Great stuff Pete ^^^ FT is a classic, i was told 250+ came to NZ back in the day,
-
slingshot plastics arent even broken!
I can see the potential in that Fishy, got the topper?

I agree with you EB. LOTS of potential in this Fishy. Bit of elbow grease, but worth it. FT is an easy game to shop. I know Pete will enjoy this game 100 times more knowing all the work he's done to bring it back to glory.
-
Well done G1. Nothing like getting a machine that needs a bit of work/cleaning etc. makes it a ton more fun to play when you put in a bit of effort to bring em up to scratch.
I seriously think that you never see a pins full potential play-wise until you pull some part of em apart and put em back together, even if it's a simple clean, re-rubber and bulb change (which about the limit of my capabilities).
-

Hi EB yeah she has the topper and works a treat-I'm really enjoying stripping this machine as with out a doubt I'm the 1st bloke after the factory to even change a bulb in this machine and thats why all the plastics are intact because no one has ever turned a screw on the playfield.
Spent a little bit of time cleaning today heres some pic's, I've started cleaning around the tackle box as in I've taken off the mylar and sticky goo and am cleaning all the metal work-checkout the globes up the top? are they factory original or what? dont worry this machine will come up a treat and I'll try and touch up the wear around the pop bumpers also.
-
you can never get enough of the fishtales video.
note- both silver legs and black legs appear in both the video and the orig brochure. !@#
What colour legs are u going with Pete ? also, new cabinet decals are avail via the USA IPB or WG in melbourne. Check n see if Mark C has some in case u want to do up the cabinet.
Enjoy the video again and again. This is EB's favourite game, and for good reason. Fun Fun game. ^^^
-
They could be original rubbers and bulbs. You are most likely to find original rubbers and bulbs in the top leftish area of the machine (gotta remove plastics to get to them).
-
This pin looks almost new on the underside of the playfield, still had original manuals/schematics etc in the yellow envelope. Under all that muck is a mylar and a diamond coated playfield - Peter will take care of the rest. Let me know if I missed something during repairs mate.........................and Melbourne look out..........a new container from a private seller/collector may have arrived, all will be revealed and I am excited about this one. &&
-
Yeah Brett the Promo Videos a classic hey %.% Mate I love chrome legs so I'll clean these up and leave them on-mate I'ld love to redecal the machine but shit that scares me but the beauty is theres a couple of blokes who have done it before I can call on for some advice &&
Thanks EB I'll look at those rubbers! it has factory Black rubbers on it but I may go White ones-what colour are yours?
Anyway back to it and heres a cabinet shot.
Peter
-
Decals have better color than mine, is this a euro import?
White rubber looks better IMO, but those blue rubbers PSP have could look good.

Congrats on the container Dave, look forward to seeing the titles available
-
Looking pretty good the playfield now with most of the mylar coming off-I'll order some fish decals tommorow/also 2 inserts went sort of a milky colour when the mylar came off and i'm not sure why? hope there avalible.
Peter
-
The inserts which went milky - I would guess that the screen print / clear has lifted away from the actual insert. Check on classic-arcades to see if Jeff has them.

Sorry Dave !@)
-
Nice catch ,she'll come up a beauty, more pic's please ,
Cheers Tony
-
DANG !
Look at the difference already Peter... ^^^
-
pete, your cabinet colours are pretty good for a non-decalled machine. it hasnt seen too much sun ^^^
i notice there is a bit of playfield wear on the topside of the bottom side lane rollovers. thats only because the previous owner kept playing the machine whilst it was filthy. @.@
she is coming up a treat. ^^^
-
Hi Brett-yeah the wear on the lanes is where the ball drops from the ramps and there was no mylar-you can buy decals for that area and I'll touch up any other bits.
Will post more pic's soon as it looks even better/yep it a Euro inport EB

I hope you've been taking plenty of video of the clean up Mr Gorgar.

Ahh well, that's what you get for making those special movies every weekend.
-
More Pics-Fish decals are on there way.
-
Very Nice Pete - and you went with white rubbers - looks much better than the lifeless black ones !
-
Looking great Pete. Record time on this one!
-
Amazing stuff isn't it, the difference a bit of TLC and a few days makes.
You gotta be happy with that mate.
-
Thanks guys-yeah nearly 5 days of solid work and probally 6 hrs a day and she's come up a treat. FT is a easy machine to strip down to the playfield I reckon and I really enjoyed doing this one. The Translite was filthy but came up fantastic and all I need now is the decal set which thanks to Marco I got really cheap and she's done and man does it play nice now and really fast $#$. EB your right its a great game and I love the music and animation-I reckon its a keeper.
Peter
P:S-video to come &&

Just recieved my new legs and new Lightning flipper bats-legs are on and one bat is on as it was near impossible to get the old bat off but I did it and without breaking anything @@* I'll put the 2nd one on tommorrow or Friday as I've ran out of time. Also have a new glass trim to go on as the old one was chipped and for $16 why not.
Also recieved the fish decals yesterday so once I figure out how to get the old decals off I'll put them on any tips :D?
Peter
-
You did a great job Peter. The difference is Amazing. You would have never picked it was the same machine from a couple of weeks ago.
-
well done Pete.
I love your enthusiasm and feel happy knowing you are enjoying your new machine.
Couldnt happen to a nicer bloke. ^^^ ^^^ ^^^
-
I really like your approach to working on this pin Pete. It looks very much like a professional shop job. Of course, once I saw the Nifti in the pictures, I was sold !
Good Stuff Pete - Keep up the good work ^^^
-
Some Fishtales machines that havent been played much have the knocker on top of the headbox with the fish etc, and when it bangs the tail etc, it scares the living crap outta you cause it is extremely extremely loud. Almost too too loud.
Have you guys experienced that before and had the crap scared outta ya.? !@#
-
My CFTBL knocker is extremely loud to the point that i know its going to go off and i still get a fright!
All the others are reasonable... Not sure why!

Wow Nino thanks for those kind words-coming from you with the awesome work you do made me feel pretty chuffed/Yeah I thought you'd like the "Product Placement" of the nifti.
Thanks again Marco for the special gift in the mail <..>
Next job is Flipper kits-the originals are good but I'll put new ones in while changing the bats and yeah Brett the Fish tale knocker is pretty loud but it adds to the excitment I reckon.

When I bought my FT is was dirtier than this as a plaster ceiling had collapsed on it - the whole playfield was covered in plaster dust as well as standard grime. Since the Topper cover was broken I took the topper off for the first 9 months. I finally got the topper put back together and discovered a previous operator had cut the solonoid wire to the fish. Once I got the fish working again I can understand why operators disabled the mechanism. It's not only very loud, but it did distract me enough to lose a couple of balls.
great job on the resto. I havent replaced any decals on mine, just cleaned it up well enough for a good game (and i replaced the one missing plastic on the right side of the boat)
checkout what watto did with LEDs.

Peter remember I still have the nemo topper for you to replace :D

Could someone please explain which parts on pinball are cleaned using Nifti. Never used it, hoping to learn some new cleaning ideas.

I use it all the time on the side art as the muck just comes straight off-I've never used it on the playfield.

I use Nifty (on a rag) to clean the heavily soiled areas on playfields (DMD era). I avoid using it directly onto plastics (ie printed/decaled ones) but clear ramps it works a treat.
NEVER spray liquids directly onto a playfield. Always onto a rag first, then use to clean.
Any updates Mr GORGAR? I bet its sparkling clean now!

Hi Marty,
Not many updates but have put on a chrome glass trim(thanks Oscar) and that looks great-have ordered LED's for playfield and have started cleaning under the playfield and will start re-building flippers and so on soon/all playfield lights are working a treat(thanks Dave/Silverball) for your help, its a real fast fun game to play I'm so glad I chose FT as my next machine.

Thanks Peter, its a top 5 machine in my opinion, and I would be happy to own FT forever.

Hard to see with the camera but in real life it's awesome.

well its much better than thr ratty easy broken black plastic ones!
Just noticed your stretch the truth meter bulbs do not have yellow condoms.

Yeah I took the yellow condons off as it looks so much brighter and "modern" with shiney clear globes on flashing away. I think they just brighton the area up a little.
