End up using the method Mitch mentioned above - it came out much heavier than the factory but I really like the effect.
Still spraying this damn cab! Been 3 weeks on and off - will be finished tomorrow.
Fairly complex design even though there are only 2 colours - have gone through almost
200 metres of masking tape!
