Hi Guys,
I just received my new Gtb Spiderman backglass which looks bloody stunning. Anyway, just wondering what the thoughts are about clear coating a nice new backglass - do it or don't? My first thought is to do it, I think I would cry if I scratched it.

Clear coat??? Whoa my man.. lets go back a few steps..
GTB SPIDERMAN backglasses have been sold out for friggin ages.. I know, ive been chasing one and Shay having no intentions of rescreening any.
I take it im missing something here apart from a new bloody backglass!!
Where did you get it from????? If you hadn't guessed already - I need one!
-
I got it from Shay. I was nearly going to buy 2, they said they had 3 left when I originally placed my order. You never know, they may still have one left. Worked out close to $600 delivered. I wish I had of bought 2 now, one for the machine and one for the wall, it looks sensational.
Just had a look at the Shay website and they are still showing as in stock.

I reckon Gav is clicking the buy button now

WTF???
I don't get it... I manage to get a Capt Fant backglass from Shay even though these have been sold out for ever.. he "finds" one in a corner.
Enquire about Spiderman and absolutely none left.. hasn't been for ages and wont be any more..
Got me scratching my head!
!@# !@#

Don't think about it, just buy one if you can before someone else does.

Maybe he found one Gav..
I would not clearcoat a New or repro glass. I've been using Triple Thick for well over 10 years. I have a "test" Bally Bingo mini backglass that I cleared 9-10 years ago. It is not in a game. I check it every year for any sign of delamination, shrinkage, expansion etc - and it looks very good. BUT - There are no guarantees for the next 5 - 10 years. To seal an old original backglass with lifting etc - YES - you are arresting further lifting etc. It cannot really get any worse. To seal touch ups - YES.
But a new glass with #47 globes or LEDs behind it will last 20 - 40 years without any issues. I would not risk clearing a NEW or REPRO glass. If a customer requested I clear a new glass, I would have to write up a disclainer and have him sign it - I just would not risk it.

I agree with niƱo plus your game won't be left on 24/7 for 5-10 years like most working pins
-
Thanks guys, that solves that problem. Now hopefully I just don't scratch it.

There pretty tough if you manage to scratch it you really wernt paying attention
