power issue with space invaders
« on: July 04, 2015, 08:49:31 PM »
All working at the moment but would like your opinion.

Was playing 4 player game with no issues. Then had a game on ToM and noticed when finished that si just had playfield lights on and no scores etc. Switched off/on but still the same. Reseated cpu connectors and all good, but pressed credit button and went back to just lights. Switched off/on a few times and got just lights, or short play of sound etc or got a chance to play but during game all solenoids died except for flippers and lights. Could play but no scoring or solenoids. Switched off/on again and got to play and the problem has not happened again.

Do you think I have a short somewhere that may have cleared via final play or what to look at? Thanks

Have you rebuilt the power rectifier board?

Sounds like fatigued connectors ?

Rectifier boards on SI are in the lower cabinet. Check fuses and fuse clips.

Been playing fine last night and a few games today. So should I still look at the connectors or rectifier or both?

If they are the problem - they won't go away. The next time you have an issue and jiggle the connectors, then the problem will appear again. You can leave alone, but as long as you know there is a problem that you will need to attend to at some stage.
