HELP! need backglass transport from USA
« on: March 11, 2011, 04:43:09 PM »
Hey guys
I need some help, I found a backglass for my Gottlieb Dragon in Mayland USA, but I am having trouble getting it transported.
I got the seller to follow the instructions from chris288 (http://aussiepinball.com/index.php?topic=5858.0), but they were told it was too big to post.
The box they have is a mirror box 36" x 36" x 6".
The only option they were given was $500!!!!
There has to be a way of getting backglasses shipped that is 100% everytime, this is not the first time I have come up against this problem.

Hi Boots,
You might have to ask your guy to try a different post office, because funnily enough it seems some of the post office staff over there obviously dont have a clue about what they can and cant send.

Ok, now I just went and checked 2 separate backglasses I had sent from USA and the box was actually a bit smaller than your measurements ( 35 x 30 x 3 inches). It is possible that the thickness of the box may be pushing it over the cubic limits, so if you can reduce it to say 3 or 4 inches thick it may make a difference.

Both backglasses were shipped by USPS.
One came by EMS cost $106.95
The other one came by International Global Priority.$120
These are both options that USPS has so there is no way that it cant be sent.

Get your guy to ask the post office why its too big, they will have to have a reason and then you should be able to work around it.

Good luck

Had the same trouble before so email a copy of one of my invoice from usps to my seller ,so he could take with him down to the post office.Went from 350 down to 140.

All depends on who behind the counter and what mood they are in.

I don't suppose you have any of the postage info or invoices do you?

I have got the ones that they stuck on the parcel that also double as customs declarations, and they clearly state USPS.

I am happy to try and copy them for you if you want.

Maybe if you have a fax number you could PM me.
