Thanks for the welcome. I baught the machine for 50 bucks and took it to a bloke who fixes them in Glendale (Newcastle) and he told me that the machine was wacked together with the wrong motor board, As he had just repaired a Dealers Choice recently he compared the two

what exactly do you mean by "motor board"? EM's don't usually have PCB's so I am at a bit of a loss to understand what part you are describing?

Maybe pics would help us identify the bits you need.

He would mean the whole board with all the relays and the score motor from the bottom of the cabinet.  Gunna be very hard to find id think seems strange that anyone would bother but who knows.  Any chance you can post a pic of what you have???

I can't see why anyone would change that but if so - it probably writes the machine off???

Could just be differences during a production run maybe?

Thats right guys the main board that runs the machine only lights work, I was told it looks like it was used as a parts machine and just wacked back together with whatever board they had to get rid of it. I baught it knowing it wasnt working

If you can't fix it you can always get your money back by parting it out .

Don't part it out.

Williams machines of this era used a "Score Motor Assembly" with a Part number of D-6380. The actual motor itself has a part number of 14A-7883 or 14A-7884.

From the picture, it looks similar. Verify the part numbers.

As Nino mentioned, if it is just the score motor - no problem
Need some better quality picts to see what exactly is missing
Whats the rest of the machine like (PF,BG etc)

Was the repairer reputable?
Did they offer to buy the machine from u for nix? If so alarm bells should ring.
Do they know what they are talking about?
These are simply questions as I don't know who u took it to, just seems strange to me

Hmmm .. I have had 4 Williams EM's from '72 thru '76 Era and none have had the score motor orientated like that (mine have all been 90 degrees to that one) , nor in that position  on the playboard .

Agree we need some better quality pics please .

And my 'parting out' suggestion is , of course, a last resort option.

Many were orientated like this and many as you rightfully state were 90degress and further back in the cabinet on left.  My guess is that this is correct
