BATHURST - FORD VS HOLDEN
« on: October 09, 2010, 09:18:09 PM »
Ahhhhh, my favourite weekend of the year.  BATHURST  -  FORD VS HOLDEN

I am a FORD MAN, have been since I was a kid and I purchased my dream car, a 1978 Ford XC 2 door COBRA 351.
I currently drive a Red Ford BA Wagon as my work vehicle, as its the only vehicle suitable for my Security business, although I buy TOYOTA  for my personal vehicles, and just picked up a 200 kilowattt 3.5 litre V6 TOYOTA AURION for the wife, and passed on her current Camry to a family member.

WHO WILL WIN BATHURST ?  I RECKON FORD WILL WIN, OFCOURSE.  I think that will make a FORD victory 3 or 4 years running.

A FORD VS HOLDEN PINBALL. would sell well in AUSTRALIA.

Multiball could be called "Multiple Holden Breakdowns" with the winning bonus round of the game called "Ford wins Again".

A drain ball could be called "Peter Brock hits a tree- Game Over".  Ohhhhhhhhh, the Holden Fans will hate that part.  **& **& %%$ %%$

When Stern bought out Nascar, I thought renaming it Peter Brock (he as still alive then) would be a bost for sales
What pub would NOT want a Pater Brock pinball?

I might give it a watch, sort of gave the touring cars away when they dropped Group C, also when they started the pace car thing at Bathurst. Probably because I am getting old I don't like the changes in the sport over the years.
Too many damned regulations spoils it like they have most sports these days, not too mention the obscene amounts of money tied up in it.
Give me the old Warwick Farm days again and I would be happy.
None the less, go the Chevs  ^^^
Lets go Brandon!

I'm with 48......the sooner they widen the "HoldenVSFord" thing the better - I prefered the good old days.

Here are a couple of pics of the team I went to Bathurst with in 1979. Long live the Wankel!!!

Here we are celebrating our demise after only 30 laps, the previous year we came second in class in an RX3 behind a Capri (I'm on the left with the cap & KB)

OK, for all you HOLDEN fans, yeh yeh, bloody HOLDEN WON.

But even a FORD fan like me was happy to see LOWNDES and SKAIFEY WIN. My two favourite drivers, even though they both drive HOLDEN.

I gotta say I reckon MARK SKAIFE is probably the BEST driver AUSTRALIA has ever had, and I think a far better driver than BROCK ever was. The history books dont give him the pizaz that BROCK got, but it would be hard for anyone to rate SKAIFEY anthing but AN AMAZING DRIVER, and one of the nicest and professional blokes u could ever meet. Seeing him win another BATHURS absolutely made my weekend. Couldnt have happened to a nicer bloke. Also, one of the best wet weather drivers ever born.

Anyway, cant wait for next years BATHURST.  ^^^ ^^^ ^^^ ^^^ ^^^ ^^^

p.s- remember when Moffat used to drive that Rotary (wankel engine) , and then there was George Fury in 1982/83 ?? who actually won pole in that turbo charged Nissan Bluebird 4 cylinder !!  A few memorable moments for motors other than the heavy V8's.  ^^^ ^^^  ^^^
ps- 2 - about brock hitting a tree, shit happens, i am sure he is up in heaven hoping people will have a laugh with a beer instead of a cry.  ^^^
