Title: WILLIAMS FIREPOWER PARTIAL RESTORE
Post by: ddstoys on April 01, 2009, 10:48:28 PM
Ive found a few picture of my partial firepower restore. Machine was pretty rough when i got it backglass was flaking playfield had bad were in the center of playfield and it wasnt working.    I set to work as with all my pins getting it playable before i rebuild it. So i went through Clays and any other web site i could find on firepower. I ordered a truckload of parts from MArcos i think it was to rebuild the driver board and connectors. Rebuilt the CPU with the combo rom mods etc.

 AS arrived

Again im not happy ive lost a stack of photos of this pinball i dont even have a picture of it put together.  But im glad i still have the pics of the backglass attempt.  All the blue section on the wings was stuffed so i scrapped all that blue away leaving clear glass.

Once all the blue was scraped away i mixed up some similar blue in my airbrush made it watery so the light would shine through and sprayed it on as even as i could.  Looked great without the machine on.

Sadly with the machine on it looked a bit dodgey the two planes on the outsides worked well just a few panels on the main plane looked shit.  But for the first ever attempt at a backglass and using an airbrush i think i did ok (For a hack)

Love the multitude of different targets, Daniel !

for the backglass issue (when turned on) - Just remove the globes in the vicinity of the touch ups.

Yeah the targets were cool never seen so many varieties on one machine.  This machine is no longer with me it was setup in the lounge room for a while and i was told it had to go. As it wasnt in good enough condition anyway i let it go still get excited everytime i hear the multiball noide on my mobile lol

Id never seen this before on a playfield but it looked as if it was made from two bits of wood and they were splitting.  Another reason i was happy to part with it not sure how long it would have lasted
