Damn, i missed Mark's "Swords of Fury" by that much....
So, i'm still looking for one, ANY condition!
Can anyone point me to another one hiding out there somewhere ???????
MM.

Marty,
This is such an awesome pin! I owned a real nice one a few years ago....bought it for $200 *%*
Traded it off for another early 60s Gottlieb ^^^
SOF looks awesome lit up in a dark room (and especially after a few () of the green)
-
Yeh, i hear a lot of people really bag it, but i've played it most times i visited Marks.
It has a nice combination of challenges and variety which kept me interested long enough to want one :lol
One day ....
-
Yes, I played it at Mark's too, and was seriously considering a bid given the price it looked to be heading into. Pretty cheap, but it's sure nice to know that some vendors actually let their auctions run as just that - real auctions! :)
-
What did it sell for?
Always thought the only thing that was missing - it doesn't have any bumpers!
-
$2005 is what it went for - there have been a few good auction buys including this one from MarkC and Bumper over the last couple of weeks: Roadshow (MarkC) went for $2226.53, World Cup Soccer (Bumper) went for $2326.53. Looks like the same second highest bidder on both of those last two!
-
In these times - $2000 was the going rate. Maybe 13 months ago $2500 +
It is a rare game, and I was considering it at one stage - I rate it to be better than Black Knight.
-
Yeah, I reckon prices have dropped by around $500 on most machines since 6 months ago.

Um, you could put in a higher bid earlier - I had to go out last Wednesday night and I wanted an auction item that was finishing while I was out. Put in a price I could live with and no-one outbid me. There are certain dangers in leaving it to the last minute!
-
No guys leave em to the last minute then when your computer stuffs up i get bargain machines $#$

yeah i was at work though and the computer isnt that great, was used to my home comp bein quicker. my last bids that i missed were fairly healthy but you never know what the others guys bid was so still may have missed out + adding 300bux to each pinny sux.

No guys leave em to the last minute then when your computer stuffs up i get bargain machines $#$
no more $137.00 pins for U
i believe a member here missed the end of this too with a Pc problem . it happens all the time
guys I too always bid at the last minute but how many of us have missed the item because we are too slow or the computer was slow
be honest I would say all of us have lost at least one or ten items because of this . you take the chance with bidding at the end or just set a limit and bid to that if you get it great if not there is always another markc pinball coming on at 1 cent start LOL
-
Can't wait for a 1cent swords of fury, coolio! :lol

At least the Junkyard has already hit $2350 with just under 4 days to go.
-
Now mark don't be like that lol. I bid at the last minute if i have other auctions on at the same time always pans out that there is either nothing i want or ten things at the same time. That gorgar backglass would have been mine if i wasn't bidding on all the other stuff.
-
Actually missed one recently with a bid at minus ten seconds. The bid was confirmed within 2 seconds, yet it came up "Auction ended". Earlier that week I had missed something else with a similar issue, but thought it was just me and wasn't too worried as the items sold well above my high bid anyway with someone else's last minute bid. But the second time was for a game I actually wanted (and it sold well under my ten second bid). Next time I'll have to go a little earlier, seems there's something amis with the last moment bids sometimes.

I see you are going at a few of the backglasses i have one at the moment , these will be the last lot for a few weeks as i want them all picked up and gone , when i list them a week apart they always seem to sit here till the second lot finish LOL

Must admit Swords of Fury is a killer game, one of the very best of that era.
Good luck in finding one, its worth the effort- in my humble opinion :-)
cheers
John

I suppose it's stating the bleeding obvious to most people here, but it seems the auction list for the expo matches a lot of the machines listed on the pinballmania site.
And as they are sponsors... If so, you get a pretty good look at the quality beforehand.
As to price, I did request a price on the Surfer a while back, Surfer was $3.5k and they mentioned a Jacks Open for I think about $3k, bit rich for me at the moment *.*
But might help in working an approx. price for the Swords machine.

Fairly sure that was in the auction last Sunday

Hmmm, Hopefully it was only there on "display" and not actually Auctioned.
However, if he sold it, i only hope he has a hospital nearby.
^.^ !*!

There was definitely a Swords of Fury in the auction, but I doubt it was from Pinball Mania - went too cheap.
-
The SOF i'm "meant" to be getting is $3k plus courier on top.
Hoping the one at Auction isn't it !! Grrrr.

Am 99% sure it was Jason's - Marty did you want me to chase Jason up today?

haven't you already paid a deposit on the sof?
by the way the missus loves the quote below Hmmm, Hopefully it was only there on "display" and not actually Auctioned.

Hi Tony,
His mobile seems to always be off today (sunday) and the landline (shop?) is an answering machine anyway.
If you CAN contact him, please ask what the go is.
Beaky, yes i had $1k down on it, with $2k remaining to be finalised probably this (or next) week.
I had even paid $400 (of the $1k) the week leading into the expo, and i assumed he would be busy and didnt respond with a 'receipt email' as he'd previously done, but i let it go, knowing he'd probably be flatout with expo stuff....no probs there.
I would have at least expected a courtesy email to let me know if he was going to sell-it-out, or at least take it along for display etc....
You can see my concern, but hopefully i'm assuming the worst and overreacting, and it was 'another' pin that sold....gulp..... #@#
Let's see......

if it were me i would be feeling the same.
I bet your heart is pounding like a bull at a gate when ever you think about it.
hope it all works out for you and everything is just coincidence.
-
Yep, fingies crossed.......breath......breath......breath...... %$%
-
OK - Marty I'm sure there must of been 2 of them now....I know one of them used to be mine.
Will call him from work tomorrow, please PM me your mobile number and I will pass on your details tomorrow.
It will be all sweet, just sometimes this is how he works.
Have known Jason for a long time and he will do the right thing by you...just sometimes his business side of things is sloppy
-
Phew, mine is sealed and stored away safely....thanx Jas for emailing me... #@#

Ahhh, but do you still like it?
Yep.it's a keeper for sure, i always enjoyed playing it at a local dealer, but missed getting that one, and soon fund the one i now own...
It has enough challenges and things to keep me happy, not too easy and not impossibly hard, but a good allrounder....

I still prefer SoF to Black Knight - but they would be great to have next to each other in a collection *%*

In a perfect world, where space is not an issue, that would be a good setup.... ;-)
