Title: Bally Bazaar Cleanup
Post by: millsy on February 02, 2009, 06:01:46 PM
Just thought id share some pics of my machine cleanup - unable to obtain a good apron & shooter so I added some decals - at least it looks a bit better. Also redone BB Paint to original design. Next job to finish off BB & Cab paint & redo coin cover.

Kev,

You should be extremely proud of those results - it is hard to imagine that this is also your first go at restoring a pin. Top marks mate!

Thought you might of mentioned you have another pin coming soon  #*#

Hi Tony,
Would class this as a cleanup job (as I used decals, hand painted,etc)-I think I would call it a resto if it was brought back to its original 60s splendour -have found these early Ballys hard to find original parts in good condition.
Yes Tony i am looking forward (and my wife Sindy, who i found out was playing the Bally during the day while I was at work) to getting the JUMPING JACK next week,& its a GOTTLIEB - it will only be restored to original as parts are easily found. Thanks Tony for finding my 2nd Pin.

Hey Millsy, fantastic job .
Thats awesome. I remember your Bazaar when it was on ebay & it was local to me as well .
What a transformation. Congrats.
A Jumping Jack on the way. Number 2 . You'll love the Gtb.

Tony's like that , an asset to the pinball community. ( No . it's not arse kissing, I'm just telling it how it is ! )
I haven't even met him yet . but I do owe him some beers for help with hard to find score cards , repair tips & a "heads up" on a forum about a pin for sale which I then bought.
Won't be long Kev & you'll have number 3 comin'.
Cheers Steve.

Nice work, you got a very good result from the decal on the apron and the backbox cleaned up very nicely.

How did you go about getting the decal done?

I love the way the apron turned out. Very interested in how you made the decals for this.

Required
1) Scanner (Only got a A4 Scanner - downside apron too wide -has a visible join in centre )
2) Photoshop
3) Self adhesive gloss A4 Photo Paper (Only works on inkjet printers)
4) Cheap colour Inkjet Printer
5) Patience  ^&^
Shooter Lane cover came up excellant as well.

1) Scanner (Only got a A4 Scanner - downside apron too wide -has a visible join in centre )

Now that you mentioned it I can see the join. Is the join due to having to print two decals and then fit them together?

Correct.
Ideal to have a larger scanner & printer.
Probably cost a lot of $$$
Just working on the cabinet decals now

Actually, Brother have an A3 multifunction colour inkjet (MFC-6490CW) that has an RRP of $499, which means you should be able to pick it up for $400 or less.

That sounds pretty affordable to me if you were looking for a new printer.

Well done ^^^ i especially like the way that apron came up.. i've done a few aprons myself using pretty much the same method. Re the join in the centre, i know this cant be avoided, as the ones i did for my Stern Stingray and Lectronamo showed up a bit on the join too, i'll be doing another one soon for my Stern Dracula im currently working on.

Top job.. looks SWEEET!!

How did you go yesterday? Score the second pin?

Yes Tony No.2 Pin is a JUMPING JACK.
PF pretty good,BG has some cracking,Cab has been painted (Not original paint design)-mechanical wise - Resets Player 1 then when goes to Player 2,score motor runs continuosley. Still quite happy with purchase & looking forward to working on it (Already ordered some new plastics,Lane guides,Posts, rubbers etc) On the Lookout for a better BG.
