System 1 Displays with Faint Digits
« on: May 02, 2016, 08:51:11 PM »
Just wondering what is behind some of my system 1 displays having faint or dull digits, there are only a couple and I have burnished the contacts but no change. The faint digits are only one out of the array so it is like this, 5 digits are good and one is faint.
Should I also re pin the connectors or is there something else going on here.

Any insight appreciated.

Cheers: Brettski... :)

Can that be fixed by charging the displays with a battery?
There is a post about that somewhere on AP.
Never done it before myself.

There's a section on recharging the displays here. I've never done it either.  http://www.pinrepair.com/sys1/#display

It works , Leave the 9v battery or 12 v power on for no more than 30 secs , You should see the thin horizontal wire glow faint red ,
although i have stuffed one doing this , the thin wire inside the display melted and broke, display glass RS now .
You will be surprised how much brighter they become .
A 9v battery works okay on the small displays
you need 12v on the larger displays , good luck ...
