So we have a new tube and starter??

Then all that is left is poor connection at tubes ends ( push these on well) or broken/ loose wire

Thanks Gav, I am thinking the same thing.  When I got the machine there was a black wire that had come out of one of the ends which I pushed in. This may be the culprit.

I think I may just get a new fitting

For those who care. It ended up being the wrong ballast. changed it and it works a treat

That's good news.

On another matter and sorry to hijack the thread. Why does the subject disappear on some postings, leaving just "Re:". Is it something members are doing on purpose? It seems to happen a bit lately, mainly by a few members in particular. I find it really frustrating, especially when looking at the list of recent postings, deciding what to click on and read. Rant over.

Interesting. So was it the wrong wattage or voltage ballast? Was it not the original ballast?

I am guessing it was not an original ballast DSB. I purchased an original one and it worked instantly which was a relief.

As for the RE part not sure unless u am doing something wrong. I was just replying on my original thread using an app on my phone so I apologize if I am stuffing things up, but at least the damm fluoro light is working :)

The ballast on my RFM is110vac 50/60hrz.
The original ballast is 60hrz. These will run a little hotter with our 50hrz.
I'm guessing swep1 is the same.
Import, I'm guessing.

Ok stupid question but I am just wanting to be certain and rule out things.

neon tube is not working so I just want to confirm how it gets connected.
do I connect the thicker wires to both ends of the tube?
I tested it with a 9V battery this way and it lights up but nothing via the pin which would definitely mean it is an issue via the main board unless there is something else I should be checking
