Hi all,
I picked up a 1978 Gottlieb Sinbad that was in very good condition, the cabinet is original with minimal wear and no graffiti or engravings just a few bumps which is fantastic for it's age..
The backglass is near perfect and the playfield not so bad just a bit of planking and one big scratch on the lower left which stood out real bad.
It has new boards in it and is very reliable jut need to replace the step down unit as it is a bit small.
I polished the coin door and replaced the playfield glass and then attempted to tidy up the playfield..
I managed to tone down the planking and disguise the scratch so it's not so obvious, in hind sight could have probably done better but quite happy with results just the same.

Looks fantastic ! Well done. Did you mylar over the top of your touch ups, or are you protecting it with wax ?
A VERY underrated machine. It has the feel of an EM, but with digital displays.

I actually clear coated it using polyurethane, I used Cabbots Cabothane and foam brushed it on, very happy with the results of the clear.
I have used it to fill in the inserts on Cleopatra and will be using it this weekend to clear coat it.
Cabothane is an equivalent to the "Varathane" used by some people in the USA and is available from Bunnings.
I used the water based clear as it does not have linseed oil that usually yellows up in time. this stuff is not supposed to go yellow..
I have no windows in my games room so there is no sunlight on my machines whatsoever which should also help with preservation.

Nice! This is a really fun System 1 - the layout was used in at least another game later (Robowar).

Looks good. I found orange one of the hardest colours to match. I literally spent hours trying to match the orange on my Buck Rogers. It was way harder than any of the other colours. It looks like the same orange used on your Sinbad.

I think it's different for everyone.
Personally I have trouble with greens and blues, aqua is almost impossible

Probably the second hardest colour I found was a light blue/aqua. I spent ages with it too.

Yep orange is definitely a hard one, on the Cleopatra the colours were quite easy, the Scarlet red was an instant match out of the tube and the yellows I had to mix a bit. Both had a purple that was also good to go straight from the tube.. Colour matching is such a pain.. ;) but love it when a plan comes together! :)

colours full stop do my head in. All I get in the end no matter what I'm matching is BROWN ^&(

Yeah I like to be busy and really enjoy my hobbies..
Got my work cut out on the Cleopatra though.. Sinbad was really just the playfield but no matter what I just love bringing them back from near death! ;)

Thanks Jason, love my Sinbad and it's condition is fantastic, just needed my pedantic touch and she shines nicely now.
Great doing business with you, hopefully we can do it again sometime.
