Dean,

If you are able to do me (another) huge favour - would you be able to check one of your Sys80 driver boards via PinRepair method to see what readings you get on a known good board?

I'm a little puzzled that Nino's are getting the same results as mine.

Yes will check one this weekend and post on Saturday arvo...Got your email and glad the CD arrived Ok.

Is it OK to replace the old leg brackets (Gottlieb) with the new style WPC h/duty ones?

I would think you would be ok with doing that. Leg bolts are pretty much standard. So a new set of leg bolts with the leg brackets should be ok - I had an old set of legs from my CV on a GTB Sinbad - so the holes "line up".

Thanks Nino....WPC h/duty brackets ordered from our sponsors!

Waiting on parts to arrive from GPE for powerboard.  Full rebuild getting done on it.  I ordered the battery corrosion kit for the CPU but I've got a problem.

There does not appear to be any corrosion on the board (apart from the tiny bit on the pad)...

If there is no corrosion - just keep the kit as spare Marty.

Next question for those in the know..

I've emptied out the cab and I will setup the powerboard, fuse rack etc. on the work bench down stairs.  This way, once the powersupply is rebuilt I can test, then move onto other boards etc.

The transformers (both) have wires for 220v and 240v.  Currently the wires are only joined to COM and 220v.  Is this correct to leave as is?

220V is fine Marty - I don't have a schematic for a sys80 handy, but it will work fine.

Marty - Check all the playfield fuses and EVERY coil on the machine.

I have three driver boards in front of me, and all three have still got the original transistors (8026). So if you have the 2n3055 transistors installed, then the ORIGINALS may have been replaced at some stage. Someone may have replaced the transistors due to a fault during its route days.

I'm measuring .674 on all collectors, nothing on the emitter. This is with the board out of circuit. All my boards are out of projects, so they are untested.

You are welcome to borrow my board.

Bit of an update re the strange readings...

Big thanks to Silverball for his help this morning   ^^^

Basically to cut a long story short the readings are due to my multimeter.  Its not a real cheapo but not an expensive one and has been OK up to this point.
I tested the same transistors with Dave's multimeter (a good one) and identifed what the correct readings should be.  Hooked my multimeter up, completely different readings (inc null on the emitters).

So - instead I will get myself a Fluke (or one like Daves)....

It has got me as well.  New batteries in it, exact same transistor and both with different readings (although Daves is giving correct)....
Also has new leads on DMM as well.    !*!

When I got home, I went back to my p.o.s $6.00 bunnings one and it was giving correct readings (using leads off the other unit)....So I really don't know.

Mine was only a mid-range one from Jaycar....Going to the bin now.

I don't know if I can justify spending $300.00 on a Fluke, as much as I want too.....

Just shot you a PM Marty, answering your other question.  Sounds like the meter is faulty are the leads Ok.

Got it....Thanks.  I need to concentrate on either one playfield or the other...Just getting itchy feet whilst waiting for parts for the pcbs!

Any recommendations on a good DMM?

Also, any further thoughts on the powersupply, whether I should change the inputs from 220v to 240v?

Thanks again
