Arrival of a New Pin - Touchdown
« on: April 20, 2011, 11:55:49 AM »
Hi All,

Its been a long while between pinball aquisitions but I have finally managed to pick up a GTB Touchdown Pinball last weekend after a few years of looking. I had the feeling that I would never be able to source one here in AU given its small production run of 711 and the theme of the pinball.

Apart from needing to replace a couple of bumber caps there is little else to do on the machine other than play it. Overall the quality of the cabinet, playfield and backglass are great.

The game plays real well and is already a hit with my kids. Anything that can drag them away from the xbox must be good :)

I think it is time to restore my other pins/arcades and look for something new to buy.

Thanks Mark

I like the look of the layout, would love to see a vid of gameplay if you get the chance to make one.
“If you wanna escape, go up to a pinball machine. There’s a magic button on the front that takes you to a world under the glass and makes the the rest of the universe disappear.”

Here is one I found on the net...

The central gameplay is to use the spinners to increase the touchdown yards shown as lights on the field. Once they have progressed to the end of the field you have a touchdown. The side targets in combination with the side pop hole things help multiply the effect of the spinner.

Neat Machine ! Gottlieb also made a EM 'Pro Football' in 1973 with American football theme. Have not seen yours before.

Wow, great score - is there a story behind acquiring it, or did one finally come up for sale in Australia?

Wow, great score - is there a story behind acquiring it, or did one finally come up for sale in Australia?

Years ago I bought the original design sheet/mylar (bottom picture) signed by the designer John Trudeau for the playfield off eBay. I thought it would be nice to have the matching pinball machine to go with it. So I searched the web set up google / ebay alerts etc and finally one popped up in Melbourne after about 2-3 years. I bought it from Bumper Action in Melb. So I have now the pinball plus the artwork (signed design mylar, signed flyers and original production photo) for the machine.

Not sure of the history for this machine other than the coin slot states '200' for a play on the game. 200 peso's?

Nice pin, test played it in Melbourne not long ago

Would be the same one I bet.
