Can anyone advise me of the best bulbs for a Theatre of Magic back box and where to purchase from as I bought some from Comet recently and have horrible white spots. Thanks in advance

Were the Comet ones LED or standard incandescent lamps?

LED's

Personally I don't like LEDs in the back box for that reason (although I am not a LED fan generally for what it's worth). There are some out there that have an opaque dome like cover that diffuses the light somewhat and should limit that like these -

Lots of different ones and types of bases -

You need to test various different LEDs until you find the right visual presentation that appeals to you. Don't use 90 Degree LEDs, they will concentrate the light in the "spots" you mention. Use 170 or 180 degree LEDs - or even Superbrite. I was using Superbrites a long time before others started using them and they look much better than standard LEDs - again - my opinion - as everyone's eyes are different !

Or... don't use LED's at all in the backbox. The light is far too concentrated to give an even illumination.
..square peg round hole type situation

Frosted warm white are my choice of LED. I use Pinball Centre NO FLIX
Expensive, but, if it is your grail its a no brainer
Looks great in EM's too! !^!
