DVD backup software

I have always used DVD shrink to backup DVDs, but as there have been no updates since 2004 I have come across a couple of discs with copy protection which I have been unable to get past.
Just wondering what software you guys use for your backups, and can they tackle the new copy protections????

I haven't done this for a while either, but dvddecrypter mentioned something about getting around the newer copy protection.

This also has not been updated in years.

Have you tried DVD region free? It defeats the copy protection so you can use windows explorer to drag and drop commercial dvds to the hard drive. Dunno about the new stuff though as it's been a while like I said earlier.

I generally use shrink, but if it wont happen then I use Xcopy, it take longer and the only draw back is that it has the xcopy logo at the start of every copy you make...

I also use dvd decrypter but while running this program i also run 'ANY DVD'
the program 'any dvd' some how allows dvd decrypyer to read those dvds that have extra protection on them.
I don't need to run 'any dvd' all the time only on certain disks that have that extra protection
even when 'any dvd' is running dvd decryper is still the program that is copying the dvd
hope that makes sense?

Sounds similar to "region-free" - it kills the copy protection somehow...

I read somewhere that it's a Sony copy protection. (The "new" one that's hard to crack)

I've heard of ANY DVD, says you get a 21 day trial, does it keep running after 21 days?

Almost all the programs only have a trial period then cost you $$$

Was hoping to find some freeware, as I hardly ever burn DVDs

which is an great program, but only a 31 day trail
