My DaC came has its flippers, and pop bumpers modded to give extra power. The ball really flys around on this machine. The guy said he got the info from the net somewhere. Here is a pic:

Simply converts the AC to DC for the coil. I've never seen anything like this before, Greg !
Simply "high tapping" the transformer would have done the same thing, but EMs should be left as "factory" as possible.
Maybe I'm just "too old" #@# - But I'm not a fan of this mod

i will post pics of my Big Brave soon - it appears that each coil has been high tapped individually - never seen anything like it before - and will be asking for everyone's help on how to fix it - I am leaning towards replacing all the coils

Cant say I am over the moon about it either, but it works great.

Yes - it is a bit strange. I was wondering if they are the correct coils ?
What really worries me with these mods (and high tapping transformers), is that all the moving parts become more powerful, but the plastics do not become stronger ! The only reason I can think of making a flipper mod - the wrong coils, or the previous owner wanted stronger flippers. I would have tried rebuilding the flippers first !

Just reading some reviews of the game at the pinball database and someone mentioned fitting "Yellow dot" coils. Whats that about?.
-
I have heard about them as well, be good to look into as I would love to power-up the top flippers in my King Pin.

Yellow dots on the flipper coils indicates that they are more powerful. They are usually lower in resistance, and would be used on EMs with 3 inch flippers.
Greg - what flipper coils do you have in your game - A5141 ?

A few windings off the coil will give more kick.... im still trying to work out why regulating to DC will give more punch - the maths says that it should be less

Was thinking the same thing gav? !@# New coil stops and links would have been easier lol

well it has all new gear in it, as well the mod
Today we high-tapped the transformer in King Pin. What a great result, has turned a good game into a terrific one (it has all the flippers re-built also).

High tapping has the advantage of making the game have more "punch" - but watch those plastics, Greg !
-
Nasty !!
It works great as long as you replace all the plastics with Titanium parts :lol
-
good players make shots, not hit plastics *.*
lucky i have another set!
:lol
-
Pop bumpers, however, are indiscriminate...

I had a game on Gregs Drop A Card and its great. I have changed most of my EM's to dc and its heaps better. Some early 70's pins had dc on coils factory fitted. I would rather play a pin that moves fast than play a pin that's on valium.

Can Greg make some clear plastics to sit under any of his main plastics on this game that may be vulnerable to Greg super high new found power shots? :lol
Just a thought !@#

Wotto its a good idea, however I have a full set of spare plastics. Really King Pin isnt that fast that plastics are in danger, I reckon its spot-on, and not too much at all.
#*# its made the game so much better, all shots are possible, just as they were meant to be!

I haven't broken any plastics as yet and dont forget all late model pins have dc to coils.
