Something different for your gamesroom
« on: June 06, 2009, 11:25:32 PM »
Hey all,

Thought I would share this idea.

I have very little wall space available in my games room but I was looking for a way to display anything pinball / arcade related like flyers , classic photos etc and then it hit me what I could do...

I got a 11 inch digital photo frame and LOADED it to the hilt with hundreds of pinball/ aracde images. To keep with the theme I aslo modified the bezel surround from Donkey Kong Jnr ( one of my fave classic games ) and made a surround out of that image , now that might not suit everyones taste but it does look pretty good. It stands out more in these images than it does in real life due to the flash.

Currently it is holding over 800 photos, anything from old bingo machine images to 60's pins - all the way through to 2008 images,    it has images of old amusement parlours,    nostalgic pics ,    PF close ups   , translites,   event / expo pics,    peoples gamesrooms,    extreme close ups of PF and BG art , inside machines,    broken inner machine parts,    whitewood images ,    pics from PHOF,   arcade images from Funspot  and numerous other arcades etc etc etc etc ......

It runs as a slideshow and goes for over 2 hours and is pretty bloody captivating and damn hard to walk away from....

I am unsure if anyone else is doing this type of thing themselves?

Heres some ideas of what I have on it......

Please note that the images on  it in real life are full of colour and super crisp - these photos make it appear a little dodgy.

Next plan is to convert all the Williams / Bally promo movies to a file type this thing likes and have them available for viewing as well.

Anyway - hope it might give some of you ideas for what can be done ^^^

@@*Wow - very innovative. Clever way to maximise limited space. I'm always keen to see cool gamesroom/pinball ancillaries. Now I will ask you some silly questions: What is an 11" photo frame? Is it an LCD monitor thingy? Does it run from a PC? And Emma Chisset? Forgive my ignorance. !@#

Yeah its like a small LCD screen - totally independent , no need for a PC - it runs off mains ( I have to run cables through walls tomorrow to hide it all ) , but you can also get re-chargable battery ones too. They generally have inbuilt memory up to about 128 meg as well as the facility to plug in USB sticks and all sorts of flash cards.
This one can run video files and sound as well ( I have the tunes from King of Kong and Chasing Ghosts running when these pics are showing too ).

I currenlty have all 800+ images on a 256meg SD flash card and it still has 40 meg left to use, I will put all the video files on a seperate stick and just leave em both plugged in.

This is remote control as well  *)* Makes it easy to start up and run the slideshow #*#

Wotto,

You mentioned last Saturday night at Pauls' this, and it looks very very cool.

I would very like a copy of that last shot you posted of the old arcade (and any other you have from that era).

Please email to pinballoz@yahoo.com
