Theatre of Magic Playfield
« on: September 17, 2014, 07:57:01 AM »
Recently finished tarting up a trashed TOM playfield for a customer and thought I'd share the results here.

Pictures don't do justice as to how bad this playfield was. Extra holes drilled into playfield, inserts delaminated, raised, chipped, damage, wear and previous repairs all made for crappy game play and in all honesty fit to be replaced. But unfortunately these playfields haven't been reproduced yet so it needed to be saved.

I was able to reattach the majority of the insert artwork back onto the inserts, I chose this method over just stripping them all and adding decals as I find the decals tend to look washed out when backlit and I needed to save the artwork around the insert area. Plus past experience has proven that some of the coloured insert decals tend to fade over a period of time (yes I know inks are improving all the time but why take risk when you don't need to, especially on a clear coated playfield?) I airbrushed the purple "theatre" insert section.

The end end result is a playfield that looks nice and will play fast.

Brilliant work, well done.  What does this type of service/restoration normal cost, if you don't mind me asking?
