I have a FLASH Bg that requiires restoration. Its my project amongst many for the new year. Ill be going through the whole process as i do it and explaining my techniques for this.
It is typical of most FLASH Bg's in that the red is pretty non existant. Ill be replacing all this - hopefully, the BG will end up looking NOS,
Anyway, here it is

Doesnt look too bad really.
Heres some close ups

But to really see the damage we have to put it over the lightbox and see where the paint has lifted

As you can see, theres PLENTY to do, so many parts have come away - ALL have to be replaced.
Next update soon....

This is really interesting.. I don't know anyone that does this kind of work, so I will be following the progress with interest.
Great stuff - I have a few backglasses that need work !

Can the Blackout backglass be restored ?
-
Gavin seems to think so....
I have given him a couple of scans of other BO bgs which are good enough to repair.... At least i hope he can... *%*

Just realised that this was an old thread!!
Did you end up doing anymore with this glass Gav??
-
Yeah Gav what ever became of this backglass restoration? 5 years ago you teased us with some pretty big promises such as "Ill be going through the whole process as i do it and explaining my techniques for this" and then nothing??

I dug up this old thread in a search for techniques in repairing back glass paint issues. I also found another thread that has links to applying decals to affected areas http://aussiepinball.com/index.php?topic=971.0
I think the paint method would be a more effective solution and was hoping that Gav resurrected that old Flash backglass but forgot to update the 2008 thread.
