In the process of removing all components from my pf for a touch up and clear and have been thinking of updating the globe holders. Currently it had #555 holders for all globes and I cannot seem to find new replacements for these. So I am considering using bayonet ones but which ones will suit? Will the standard SS ones work or do I need to consider a specific type?
Also this game uses the exposed braid wire to all the GI's etc. I am considering doing away with this and connecting each globe with a common insulated wire. Is this the right way to go? Also what gauge/thickness is needed so I can buy a length from say jaycar?

Will these help http://mrpinballa.cart.net.au/details/2833370.html
Maybe http://www.marcospecialties.com/pinball-parts/24-8767
Or http://www.pbresource.com/sockets.html#555
Not sure if you are set on replacing the #555's because you can't find replacements or you just want to change them?

Hi Rob,
I believe Embryon has the same 555 holders as Fathom. As a replacement 90% of the ones you need will be either one of theses two.

thanks adam, I thought you may have been in the same situation. My holders still work but are a major pain inserting globes and leds especially and they seem a little brittle now.

No worries Rob,
That's exactly why I changed all of mine out as well. The plastic just becomes so brittle after over 30 years of use.

The #555 holders are almost impossible to find for these games. I'd go with the standard bayonet style as Crashramp indicated.
