Coil Help
« on: July 20, 2009, 01:15:26 PM »
After a discussion with Nick the other night whilst playing Whitewater I decided to check my Lost mine kickout coil as it fires the ball out too fast, straight at the metal ball guide above the right flipper.
Occasionally so hard it can go back into the lost mine and get kicked out again   @.@

The manual states an AE23-800

My pin has a AE23-800-3

going by BAA the AE23-800 is a coil without a diode
http://bayareaamusements.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=WC-23-800&Category_Code=

and the AE-23-800-3 is a coil with a diode
http://bayareaamusements.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=WC-23-800-03&Category_Code=

There are several that size with different numbers (ie. -1, -2, -3, -4, etc.)

What does this number corespond too? Is this my problem?

Thanks,
Matt.

Just had another look at it, the diode has been removed anyway so it should perform the same as the original.
Do any other WH20 owners have this problem?
Before I rebuilt it, it must have been aimed slightly different, as the ball used to hit the top of the flipper then roll up the inlane and back down (good for spotting river letters)
Maybe I just need to adjust the aim of it, but it is still way over powered  !@#

Maybe a 24-900 coil?

Matt - Measure the resistance of the coil - this will tell you if the coil is defective. I think not - but it is worth a shot.

The assembly itself could be out of adjustment ? If the plunger is too short - it travels further, thus becoming more powerful. When you shopped the game - did you replace the plunger with a shorter one perhaps ?

Nah, didn't replace the plunger (it's actually a cup) all original.

I recall a thread on RGP with people putting a lower strength coil in the WH20 to stop this problem...

I'll see if I can find it.

The suggested fix is to replace the 23-800 coil with a 26-1200.

I just looked inside my WW, but my coil had no wrapper-paper on it.  !!!
Sorry i couldn't help out.  #@#

FYI: My 'Lost Mine chute' shoots the ball straight onto the right flipper, everytime.
