This is an offshoot of the TAG project. The motor assembly will be used in TAG (and other pins) but the extra boards won't be required.
I have designed this kit to fit ANY pinball machine. The cheapest option will be "Stern interface only PCB". The motor assembly has identical mounting hole spacing to Stern machines and will bolt straight in.
The next step up the price ladder brings us to "any machine" interface PCB which includes 2 x optical sensor boards and 2 x 3M cables with plugs fitted. These can be fitted near any lamp in the machine that you want to trigger the shaker event and the two inputs will give different shaker responses. There is a sensitivity adjustment pot on the sensor board. Additional sensors can be added with no limit to the number used. Different "shake" responses can be programmed using the 3 way DIP switch on the interface board.
The "Stern ONLY" kit is just that. The full "fit any machine" kit will fit any machine AS WELL as Sterns.
All mounting hardware including threadlocker is supplied. You will need to supply some wire to connect to your machine.
I have a few of these made up and will install one in a couple of machines at robm's place next weekend.
They will be on display at Pinfest and available for purchase shortly after that.
I am still unsure of the sell price but postage will play a big part in that as the kit weighs in at 2kg. I believe I am still on target for <$200 including post but by how much less I don't yet know.
This is the "Stern only" kit:

....and this is the universal kit that will ALSO fit Sterns:

Looks and sounds good Mike, especially the 'any machine' kit.

+1
Nice job Mike

Yes, well done Mike! The "any machine kit" sounds great.

Great stuff mike

Sounds great, now thinking what lights/modes would warrant shaking on my tz, tom, fh etc. Maybe people to can suggest modes for various games that best would suit a shaker.

When will this be available for sale Mike?

Still waiting for the additional "game active" board to come back from the board house - it's Chinese national day for the next three days (yes, they get 3 days holiday) so nothing will happen for 3 days.
A pic here of the prototype (hand made) game active board installed and the DIP switch settings for different effects. Also one sensor installed in my HSII next to a lamp.

For those eagerly waiting for info on this project here is a small update.
The PCBs arrived today for the interface board that senses when a game is in play and then delivers power to the shaker driver board - in the pic below you can see where it mounts in the machine (the initial "home made" prototype board) and the following pic shows the first one made up but missing a few connectors and resistors (parts we are waiting on delivery).
This is a function I had overlooked during the initial design as I was mainly looking to incorporate the shaker in Homepin pinballs so this add-on kit is a bit of an afterthought, this extra board isn't required in our pins (or Sterns with shaker code either).
We are getting there.....

Any dates on availability yet Mike?

The hold up has been the smallest thing - the crimping machine for the terminals used to make the short loom for these was late coming and then I came to Australia before I could get it set up. Shouldn't be more than a few weeks for the first short run - everything else is finished and ready to pack.
