Title: Sealing Cabinet Paint?
Post by: Ric on June 05, 2009, 09:36:31 AM
Hi there

I have a cabinet that has had some weather damage and whilst the paintis 95% there, there is evidence that it could/may/will start flaking - however it is not so bad that a respray is needed

Has anyone ever tried to seal cabinet art? Could you use something like Krylon triple thick?

Cheers

Ric

Ric - I have yet to try this method - but I really want to attempt is on my next cabinet repaint. It removes the need to have perfectly matched semi gloss paints, which is a problem I have run into before. I think a couple of guys have tried it here before.

I have used cans of White Knight Crystal Clear Acrylic Satin  from Bunnings over waterslide decals & the new cab paint (acrylic) , it does not affect the acrylic paint or the decal I have used, however have not sprayed it on original paint, probably would make sure all waxes or silicanes are not present -wipe down with Prepsol. Maybe test it on the artwork behind the legs if the artwork is present.
