Title: Bally Power module Flash Gordon
Post by: PinPal on September 21, 2018, 08:41:58 PM
My computer controld lamps on my Flash Gordon went down.
I traced it back to the power module and found the bridge rectifier at BR 1. has gone bad.
The fuse checks ok.
Does anyone no the part number of this so I can order a replacement.
I have a spare rectifier board am able to use and the game is
functioning normally.

Replacements bridge rectifiers for these boards are a "KBPC3510W". This is a 35 amp, 1000 volt rectifier. You can also get them rated to lower voltages but this one supersedes them and is easier to get.
Make sure you get one with W in the part number, it has pins. The non W part has lugs instead of pins.
Good luck!

Check the repair guide on how to install / upgrade the larger BRs ;

Either of these will work ;

Wroung kind of power board Nino.
Flash Gordon has the power board in the cabinet.
It uses the same bridge rectifier though.
Replace them both as you have the board out anyway.
Be sure to reflow the print headers.
You might need a good hot soldering iron for the ground pins, lot of copper trace to heat up.

This is a better guide....

I replaced the bridge rectifier at Br1 on the Bally power module with grate success. After replacing that after testing I found the resistor at R2 had gone bad also.
Its a 25ohm 5.watt resistor, the closest I could get was a 27ohm 5.watt,  would this still work ok or will I need the exact same resistor ?
I am still leraning :-)

Yes a 27 ohm 5 watt resistor will work fine.

Dave..

How is the Power supply board? They go bad.. I think it's usually located on the side wall of the back cabinet.. I had a Bally Paragon and even the power supply plugs were messed up..
