Title: Victory 1987 Gottlieb
Post by: 63wizz on December 30, 2009, 09:48:24 PM
I bought this pin a couple of weeks ago, it was on Ebay in Tassie and i missed out winning by $30.
A couple of weeks went by and then i got an email saying it had been re listed, so i sent a message
saying i would pay the price the previous buyer paid, the seller said ok.

So i headed of to Hobart to pick it up on Monday 700km round trip in the one day, the things we do for a pinball machine.

the Victory pin is fully working, just needs a good PF clean and polish.

the Play field is 9.5 out of 10
cabinet is 5.5 out of 10
and the translite is 8 out of 10

Interestingly this pinball machine does not have any pop bumpers.

here are some pics for those who are interested.

cheers Ian

Interesting acquisition!

Not surprised the playfield is 9.5 out of 10 - apparently the playfield is a photo-realistic mylar overlay rather than being silk-screened onto the wood.

Hi Guys, just a little bit about Victory's game play, the ball is ejected into the shooter alley and manually launched on to the play field by the player with the standard type ball launcher, the ball is launched across the playfield to the left side of the machine and up through a spinner.
the object of the game is to activate 7 check points one at a time and then cross the finish line, the machine speaks and says the check point number that you need to aim for.
there are ramps and spinners and a mini play field, there are 4 flippers, 2 on the mini play field.
ther is a nice catchy tune playing through out the game in play, as well as engine revving sounds.
the mini playfield has 4 drop targets to knock down with mini flippers, each time the targets are knocked down the amount is advanced by 50,000 then 100,000 then 200,000 and finally special.
there are 6 stand up targets on the main play field spelling FINISH, each time the word is spelled the multiplyer is advanced in the  following order 1x 2x 3x 4x 5x 6x 7x 8x.
there is access to the mini playfield from both flippers, one via a ramp and the other via a ball kicker.
The game is quite fast and is fun to play.

I had a problem with Victory today,it would reset back to the attract mode part way through a game, i found a dry joint on the header pins of the reset board, i found this by pushing on a few connectors while the game was on, i re soldered the header pins and all seems ok so far, i will give it a work out tomorrow and see if it was the problem. fingers crossed.

Ive had more reset problems with my Victory pin, sometimes when the ball bounced off the right hand kicker it would reset, i found a broken diode on the kicker solenoid, should be ok now.

also repinned a lot of connectors, until i ran out of pins, ordered more from GPE. The new pins also caused problems with the sound, one of the new pins i put in the A1-J3 connector was bent and not connecting causing sound and light issues.

then the switch matrix had a problem, turned out to be a bad chip (7404) at Z11 i think it was.

So i had a fun weekend tracking down these faults.
