Restoring a 1979 Meteor. Boots up and goes into attract mode but every time I press the right flipper button it takes out the F4 fuse.

Help help help help. Its driving me insane.

Any ideas would be a great help.

Check the diode on the shorting flipper and make sure it is not dead. Make sure the diode is wired correctly. Following is a quote from a repair manual.

The cathode, or "banded" side of the diode always connects to the "hot" or "power" wire. The anode, or "non-banded" side of the diode always connects to the low side of the circuit (return or ground side)

Need a bit more detail-

do you start a game before the flipper button takes out the fuse?  If it happens before you start a game you have a serious issue!
if it is after you start a game, does the fuse blow immediately or only if you hold the flipper button in?

As above and also check that all the existing fuses are the correct values.

Meteor goes into attract mode and only blows the 5A f4 duse when the right flipper button is pressed. Left flipper has no effect and isnt working.

"attract mode" is when the game has no players - the credit button has not been pressed and the game is not "playing". If you press the flipper button and the fuse blows, then there's something VERY strange going on.

If you press the credit button, and player 1 is on ball 1 and you then press the LEFT flipper - does anything happen ? I assume that at this point you press the RIGHT flipper and it blows the fuse ?

Test Bridge rectifier 3 on power supply. Test flipper coils too. If the left one is not working also, as i think that's what you mean? Sounds like a problem with the flipper wiring and or flipper coils , Check for cracked header pins on the Sol/Driver board,  connectors J1 and J2
