Led'ing my BDTK, CC and TZ
« on: April 21, 2016, 09:43:56 PM »
Thought I would post some before and after pics of my machines as I change them from globes to Led's.

Obviously what I like most likely will not be to everyone's tastes.

Hard to take good photos so I did the best I could.

First up is BTDK.

First group = Flash on, All lights on
Second group = Flash on, GI only
Third group = Flash off, All lights on
Fourth group = Flash off, GI only

Cactus will be next in the next day or so hopefully.

I do remember how the Tron had upstaged the other games. Batman with standard lights looked tired, and had an almost "black and white" look about itself. Doing your magic on the other pins to match the Tron is a wise decision.

Will be interested to see the CC LED updated as I am working on mine at the moment with a ground up restore and debating whether to leave as is with incandescents or bring it into the new century.  ()

LEDs all the way! I have had them in my machine for 2 years now. I have only had to replaced 2 faulty ones in that time. One was a flasher that melted down and the other was a back box blinker.

Once you start using LEDs, you never go back. The game is taken to a whole new level. You need to experiment to find the right mix, but that's half the fun.

Thanks for the comments fellas.

Agree with Nino that finding the right mix is part of the fun, I probably spend way too much time on that though!

Cactus Canyon done today.

As before,
First group = Flash on, All lights on
Second group = Flash on, GI only
Third group = Flash off, All lights on
Fourth group = Flash off, GI only

May do TZ in the next day or so, little bit Led'd out....... %.%

Good advice and yes I have added LED's to a few machines during the restore process but never seen a Cactus Canyon tricked out with them. I figured since mine is currently in a few hundred pieces it might be a good opportunity to see one already converted over.

Looks great Cursed, the centre inserts really pop now compared to the dull glow I was used to with incandescents.

Looks like an order with RTBB is on the cards.

Any chance you have an LED count for the machine just to save me some time? Would be much appreciated if you do.  ^^^

I printed off the lamp locations from the manual that I have in a PDF file.

I counted roughly.....

40 - 47 GI (playfield)
40 - 555 GI (backbox)
4 - 906 flashers (backbox)
7 - 555 GI (backboard - behind playfield)
8 - 906 flashers (playfield)
70 (ish) inserts - mixed 44 and 555

Hope that helps!

Did Twilight Zone today........

Added Ingo's clock board while I was at it with the rainbow led's.

Safe to say I have had a full on but fun 3 days, hope everyone enjoyed the view.

They look great mate. First chance to look at the thread again after a few hectic days. I have a colour changer on my 'clock' insert at the top middle of the pf. It looks ok but found a colour changer on the 'tiger saw' on a theatre looks great.

I also put blue flashers in the mini pf metal lamp and that sends a nice blue hue across the main pf.

Cheers mate, I have a colour changer in the '?' door insert at the moment. I may look into the clock insert as well, nice tip!

Will have to see what yours is like when I am there for the upcoming mighty unboxing party!  $#$

Clock insert is better value for Colour changer because its activated more regularly than the ? Insert unless you're a great player and LITZ is achieved quite often   *.*
