This is an extract from the defunct pinrepair guides:

"4. Converting Williams System3-6. games.

There is a plug going to the transformer (located in the backbox). This plug uses female .093" round Molex terminal pins. Modify the red plug as shown in the picture below (this game was from Europe and changed from 240 to 120 volts - the black jumper wire was added, and the white striped jumper was moved). Make sure the transformer has jumpers between lugs 2 & 3 and 6 & 7 (in the case of a 240 to 120 volt conversion, these jumpers should already be in place). I am not sure if this information applies to system7. "

The plug going to the filter only has 2 pins on it

Check this link out, the first page shows the power wiring and the jumpers for various supply voltages....

Thanks for that but unfortunatley the transformer has only 4 posts not 8

Have you had a good look under the transformer, peeled back the outer winding cover?  It looks like there are 4 wires to the plug and another two white wires heading off to the left.  It is highly unlikely your transformer isn't a stock Williams factory transformer.  The secondary windings/output voltages are to unique for the transformer to be replaced with something else non original

Yes i've peeled it all back. The white wires are secondary wires. The four wires are directly connected to the windings

Yes, $149 is a very good price but (depending on where you are) the freight cost might kill the savings over the Jaycar price  !@#
