Are these in playfield inserts or the traffic light assembly ones?
In the lamp test there should be specific test for the lamps.  Could be a row or column but simple things first.  Try a working globe with working socket in them and rerun test.

Update,
I am stupid.....
I was checking the lamps with a broken LED, so thats two faulty LED's in my play field. Swapped with good ones and everything is ok again.

Note to self check things properly :D

....are the LEDs "direction sensitive" IE  - will work only one way around?

Good thinking Homepin,
But no, I have the pinball center no-flix type, they have a large type LED, which I have never seen before, a rectifier circuit and capacitors.
I was going to disassemble and check them out.
This makes it three that have failed. They do have a life time guarantee, so I will have them replaced as well as order some spares.

I'll post some pics when its in bits. The first one was a burnt out PCB, I think that was my fault.... power supplies can be fun.

Is that your lifetime, lifetime of an ant or lifetime of the LED guarantee?

Well the LED is a pretty simple assembly.
A pair of SOT-23 diodes act as a rectifier, the resistors stop the high current from blowing up the lower voltage LED. The capacitors smooth the
input  to make the DC voltage on the LED look more like a globe (as they turn on and off quicker, Globes glow).

Jut need to do some calculations and buzz out the circuit and see what causes the failure.
