This is the second Joker Poker I have done. This game had spent the last seven years or so sitting at a mate's place, well loved by him and his family.
When I first got the game, I had a brand new original Gottlieb power supply and driver board, so for this game I bought the Pascal stand alone CPU. That combo has performed flawlessly - in all those years at my mate's place I have never needed to do a single thing except the occasional clean and rubber, and as the playfield was mylared, the was just a simple Mr Sheen job.
The playfield in this game is actually pretty good, and the backglass not too bad (although pretty faded in the reds as usual). But with CPR doing both items I could not resist.
I have just finished the playfield swap, so thought I'd share that for now.

As reasonable as the old playfield was, there is nothing like a new one!

Will paint those white today and apply one of these decals I just ordered from Pinball Rescue http://www.pinballrescue.net/Decal_Instructions.html as they look pretty neat.

Busting for a game but sadly got the cabinet to do yet.

Joker Poker is a game that rarely leaves collections. Such a great looking and playing machine. Best SYS1 by a fair margin.

Finally finished the back yard renovation that has kept me busy for a couple of months, so getting back to Joker Poker now, and with the temperature up, painting can get done.
This cabinet had what seemed to be an issue with the second layer of ply. It was extremely soft. I replaced the back as I wanted to take a good look at the wood to ensure there was nothing going on. On examination, seemed just a very soft layer of wood.
The issue is caused however, was the edges rounded off quite a lot at the base of the cabinet. I could have beveled them and it would have been OK, but the OCD in me forced me to carefully cut out the edge, and splice in some hardwood strips so that I had a nice edge. Didn't take as much effort as I expected, but still a fair bit of time, but now that I have some primer on it this morning and can see the nice new edge, pretty happy I did it.
Here it is after the cutting. The second photo show the piece to be glued in place shortly.

A couple of shots showing the spliced in edges. I am now heading back to the garage to finish the priming and sanding, and getting ready for the stencils.

One of the best drop target pinballs by a mile.
I vaguely remember playing an EM version back in late 70s.
If you have to sell all of your machines, this is the one to keep. Nice to see this restored.

I've given up trying to post my pics the right way up - no matter how I orient them and save to my desktop, they come out upside down!! If these are not right this time, I'm our of ideas.

I personally saw this cabinet repaint on Sunday, and it is an exceptional Job mate ! It was also good to see that in the flesh, the game is not upside down !
