Um....what is a sticky topic?

I know it sounds like a dumb arse question - but what is a 'sticky topic'?

Have seen this term around and thought it was time to learn!

My understanding of it is that when admins deem a topic important/informative/useful etc, they make it sticky. What this does is that when you do searches or click on say "Pinball Restorations" it will be the thread on top of the list.

A sticky is a topic that stays at the top of it's parent section. It does not "flow" down the page and get lost two pages in.

It is more of a deliberate and prominent topic

I find that a sticky topic is trying to explain to my wife why I need another pinball machine...
“If you wanna escape, go up to a pinball machine. There’s a magic button on the front that takes you to a world under the glass and makes the the rest of the universe disappear.”
