Unknown P/N - metal support post (WMS circa 1980)
« on: January 16, 2015, 07:51:20 PM »
Looking for some assistance from fellow pinheads..

I'm searching for one of the small metal support posts which is affixed to a metal ball guide (Black Knight).

Unfortunately a prior owner had thought it was a good idea to superglue a pop bumper nail into it, into the playfield.   ^&^

Below is a pic of what I am chasing...If anyone can help or point me in the right direction it would be appreciated...Couldn't find a p/n in the Williams 1980 part manual....

Been looking for the last 20 mins but can't find any. I reckon I might have some spare from my spacies. Just need to find the bloody old plastics. If I fond them this w/end I'll let you know.

I may have give them away

Thx Rob,

Would probably only cost $1,372.55 inc postage!!

Out of stock at the moment, but hopefully someone may have a spare!

thats if the dollar stays strong, thought the p/n's may help in your search.

I just noticed, is the standoff attached to a metal guide? Mine were on plastic guides so easy to remove and install by heating with a soldering iron. How would you install these?

.. and it would not match the photo on their website, be a completely different part or be painted pink and passed as genuine.

Not sure Rob.  Have not done one before...

May have to stick it in the freezer for a few days to get one out cleanly...

aaaah the ol' freezer trick. I thought putting the post in the freezer to shrink it, and heat the guide would work to install but not sure on the removal unless you heated the guide during extraction????

From reading Rob, they're sometimes referred to as 'Thimble posts'..

Seems that one installed, the top is flared (prob same tool used for rivoting)...

I'm hoping maybe Daniel may have a spare or I'm in trouble!

Thanks anyway Rob.

I'll have to machine something up on the lathe!
