White Water Topper Lighting not working
« on: January 08, 2012, 06:17:47 PM »
Hi guys, getting ready to sell my White Water and was taking some photos and noticed the topper lighting was not working. I don't know when it happened as not played it for a little while.

- there is no leds lit up on the rhs board that has the leads connected up to it from the topper.

Can anyone point me in the right direction of what the problem if simple is.

I have no idea what the problem is but i have read in other threads from memory you should never use LED's in the topper... maybe google this and see if it could be the LED's have burnt something out.

I have never put in led's in the topper......

What I meant was on the A-15761 Chase Light PCB Assembly board inside the backbox has a LED 1 and a LED 2 - neither are lit up at all I think indicating no power from maybe a short.

Maybe try check/reseat connectors J105 and J118 on the main driver board.

I have a theory and I hope not too expensive.

In a thread I posted last year I had a weak rhs top flipper and in investigating I noticed that leads J104 was plugged into J105 and opposite with the J105 led plugged into the J104 socket. I did post a enquiry and no real definite answer so thought I should return back to how the manual states it and swapped it from what it originally was thinking it may be linked with the flipper weakness.

Note: the topper was working before this (I think) and for some reason zoned out and never noticed it not on ???? go figure.

In another thread -

Is there a chance I have booted the pcb with higher voltage and cooked something with returning J104 and J105 to how it states in the manual.

A very common fault on this chase board is the two flat diode bridges cark it. I am re-creating this board using larger diodes to cure this problem. The driver transistors however, are proving very hard to find. All other parts are in stock.

Check the bridges - very, very common.

here are 2 photos:

1 of the creature
2 of the white water - check out behind the plug on the board - it appears 2 tracks have popped ?????

any thoughts what may have caused this and if it is linked to the chase light pcb?

I pulled the board out and has jumpers on the back to replace the blown tracks - so an old injury.

Spoke to Ken (Skybeaux) and he is going to have a look at both boards for me. Thanks Homepin for the heads up with the 2 flat diode bridges.

I got the driver and chaser light pcb's back today from Ken and they worked like a dream.

The 12 v led was dead on the chaser light pcb and the driver board had a dodgy fuse and some poor solders.

Now the topper s up and running.

Thanks to those who helped very much appreciated.
