Can you use williams coils?
Do playmatics use willism parts otherwise?

no playmatics use playmatic specific coils, If I knew the gauge and turns I could probably find and use a similar one.

Ive got them here ,I think
If you can get me the no's , i'll take a look for you , I have wrecked a playmatic or 2. %.%
The flipper coils i have only have 2 lugs and just use the sand resistor to knock down the current .

I just checked the data base and Last Lap is a electronic game , the playmatics ive wrecked are EM's btw but i may have the correct type still.

A coulpe of times I've needed a coil, but did have a burnt one as a sample.
I measured the wire diameter with a vernier and RS Components sold ($10 and free delivery) almost the correct gauge (0.17 vrs 0.18mm sort of thing).
I tried to count the turns as I unwound it but the coil was too far gone. I then weighed the complete coil.
Using a drill I wound the new copper onto the old coil former and stopped to weight it occasionally. I don't think it is too important to lay the copper in perfect layers, just fill any lows as it is wound.
When the weight was correct, I cut the wire and soldered it to the lugs.
The coils work fine but don't look as good as a factoty one.

Thanks Andy,
Yes, I was hoping to avoid self winding coils but may have to resort to this if I cant find originals.
cheers

Chris - I have a complete set of Playmatic Coils that were removed from a Space Gambler.

2 X B - 1008 B = Flipper Coil

Target reset - I'll need to see the old ones as I have 9 coils of different values but none are large ones. Do you know the part number off the wrapper ?

No good over here mate ,
I only have B 1007's
                AC 2061's,AC 1906 , AC 655, AC 1007 , AC 1006
AC 1005, AC 2061's ,AC 1202's ,AC 1201's. and a few others , But no large reset type coils sorry.
I did see The pinball resourse had them , Out of Stock Atm .

You may need to make one using the same gauge wire, if you know the correct size ,
Just use a cordless drill and take your time .
Good luck...
