Well I travelled to bendigo today to pick up the new old game.  It looked good in the photos and looks just as good in real life the Backglass is perfect and the Playfield doesn't look like it's had many games either the shooter lane is hardly marked.
When I opened up the machine I was lucky enough to find the broken piece of the front inside the machine so the glue is drying as I type ;)

All internals are clean and in corroded which is a good start but all the steppers are seized from the concrete grease used back in the day once the glue is dry I'll start on the steppers and see if I can bring it back to life.

Best part about finding the broken piece is it still has the original artwork ( the rest of the cabinet has been stripped) so I can match colors ready to resort the cabinet.

Now all I need is a set of legs anyone have a set for sale?

Does anyone have a 1940 Gottlieb?  I have some questions if you do?

That's an interesting find. This game was more than likely a private import at some stage ? What are the coin mechs denomination ?

Amazing condition. You have unearthed some real finds lately  ^^^

Got  1937 and 1940 STONER machines here, a '36 Gottlieb and a '47 Genco.. they all worked pretty much the same.
That is in nice condition bar the sanding of the artwork... more likely a private import as Nino suggests.
My '37 Stoner Ricochet was just that... American immigrant who brought his milk bar with him and set up shop in Victoria. Family moved to QLD and brought the machine with them where it sat under the house for a few generations of kids to play. Game had had one owner since new until sold to me, but was sited in the milk bar in the late 30's early 40's.
Is there anything written in chalk on the bottom??..When they imported, they just chalked on the underneath who it belonged to and destination... ha ha!! No paperwork.. just chalk work!

Oh poo :(.  One of the steppers is broken guess it won't live tonight.

No coin mech Nino the door is missing and I didn't find this one it was found by Slammer (Angelo) at a clearance sale type deal in bendigo I was just lucky enough he thought of me.

I found was after was about the lockdown bar mine seems to be missing something that holds the long bolts.

Also there are 3 contacts where the door goes was wondering what they went to?

Bolts are held in place by 2 wingnuts.
The 3 contacts where the door goes aren't essential to get the machine going, but right now, I cant remember what they do...Need to go open the Ricochet to find out

Yeah but my lock bar doesn't have the bolts?  Is there a plate with bolts welded or how are they held to the wood?

Ok.. so you don't have 2 holes through the lock down for the bolts to go through?

I might have a spare here.
Some have a squared  metal U shaped strip than runs the length of the lock down and the bolts are contained between timber and metal.
I found an old Williams bar here today in the shed which probably came off CASINO... pretty sure it has the same mech on it.
Will check tomorrow... you never know, it may fit???

Well that would make sense mate having the metal U shape containing the bolts the front timber does have a notch the entire width of the cabinet

Aah my memory mixed up the WMS with the GTB.
Here's what should be happening under your lockdown bar mate..
