Australian Pinball Restorations
« on: April 13, 2012, 11:55:29 AM »

Hey Guys - I've decided to move on from my IT day job and ramp up the Hobby Business to a full time venture.

The Company I've formed is called "Australian Pinball Restorations". That's right, I'm going "full time" into Pinball repairs, restorations and sales. For now, I'm concentrating on restoration work until the storage building is extended and refurbished. More on that later. Right now, I'll be restoring my own games, and customer's machines from this month on. I have a showroom that will be available once the building works are complete - around December this year. Website will be up shortly with contact details.

My decision to move into this industry full time has been something I've been planning for 5 years. I will be covering all eras and all manufacturers. I will be doing repairs, reconditioning work and full restorations. Cabinet resprays to board repairs. Eventually, I will be doing repairs in house and at customer's house's. There's a lot more that I will be doing, but I need to take small steps.

Nino

All the very best with the venture mate.

And yes, we really are getting spoiled for choice these days. It wasn't that long ago getting a machine restored professionally meant buying one of those dealer "rag and nifty" jobs. Now we have several professionals, how good is that.

Best wishes in the new enterprise Nino.

I believe that a change of career path/lifestyle is probably the most rejuvenating thing one can do.
It takes gumption, planning and passion, but hopefully it should be its own reward.

100% agree. I've been wanting to have a career change for some years , trouble is
a) what to do
b) will I make enough $$ out of it to still live comfortably

This is the key - finding something that makes you happy and you can survive on. I've worked hard for almost 24 years in IT and I was burnt out. I enjoy working with pinball, and I've literally had them around me since birth. I simply want to be "happy", and pinball does that for me.

At the moment, the current EMs need to be completed - Pro football and Aces High. These are big jobs, but I have to get them out of the way. Tales From The Crypt is done and the collector is taking delivery this weekend. I have a backlog of games that I will knock over - Skateball, KISS, Xenon, Eight Ball, Dr Who, Playboy, Jurassic Park, T2 and Corvette.

What will be restored and sold are MOST OF my personal collection in storage - which you will find under the "My Collection" heading. If there is something there that you are interested in, PM me and I'll evaluate and sort out pricing. I will separate the games I'm keeping in my Private collection, with the games I wish to restore and sell.

At the moment, I'm still working on the "Business Plan", and this needs to be done ASAP.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone  ^^^

Congratulations Nino taking the big plunge is a massive step but one you will have no problems with im at a point where my day job has to go but am not confident enough that the pinball work can sustain our way of life.

WELL DONE
