Stern Production Numbers

(1/3) > >>

swinks:
I am not sure if I have seen this thread elsewhere before or if it was a general comment amongst another discussion. I got the info off Pinside which was interesting and thought a good place to check out is within the DMD review section as that is the most closely related field.

As you know Stern do not release production number so it comes down to estimate numbers based on serial numbers. It is believed that Mr Pinball price guide gives a close estimate within 10 machines.

data captured from:
http://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/do-we-have-any-sales-data-production-number-of-stern-pins

some data from a guy - snyper2099 is

"Here's the Stern numbers I have come up with based on serials, talking with other collectors and entering my own serials over the years... Keep in mind these are NOT official and do NOT include LE or any other such runs.

SPOILER ALERT: 3RD highest selling Stern of all time was actually Monopoly! Huh? Yeah, I don't understand it either.

Newer games are just too early to tell on most titles but so far it looks like there are at least over 500 Tron Pros that were made up to this date.

I know many have said Simpsons outproduced LOTR but I really think many (even employees at Stern) just presume this because there were MANY MORE RUNS of Simpsons than LOTR.

The estimated LOTR runs were 7 total:
1600-2000-500-500-250-150-150 in that order... adds up to 5150

For TSPP the run estimations are as follows (13 RUNS TOTAL):
600-500-200-300-400-600-500-300-300-250-250-50-100 in that order... adds up to 4400

I have arranged these in order of how many games were estimated to have been produced:

5150 LOTR
4400 TSPP
2650 Monopoly
2200 spiderman
1600 POTC
1300 Roller Coaster Tycoon
1200 Sopranos
1000 T3
800 Austin Powers
720 World Poker Tour
700 Family Guy
700 Ripley's
650 Nascar
600 Playboy
500 High Roller Casino
450 Elvis
400 Iron Man
400 Indiana Jones
300 C.S.I.
250 NBA
250 Big Buck Hunter
250 Batman: DK
250 Rolling Stones
200 "24"
160 Wheel of Fortune
50 Shrek"

so with this data and Cavey's hard work on this thread:
http://aussiepinball.com/index.php?topic=9385.60

we should start a production list and keep it updated.

swinks:
Here is the list for 1999 to 2013 inclusive, which I will keep updated with Mr Pinball Price Guide Numbers if / when I get them as they are probably the most accurate

Can those that remember the LE qty's let me know and I will update this post - at least it is a reference, how accurate is only Stern's knowledge

swinks:
Each Stern has a production number if you pop the playfield and look to your left under the pf to the left of the flipper mech.

eg my Iron Man has No:372

Greg:
I have
CSI  672
& IM 759

Caveoftreasures:
I have kept serial numbers and machine numbers (example 2442 of 2500 Batman Forever) for all my 40 x dmd machines....I find it interesting to see how many machines were made, and what number along the production line each machine was......

The AC/DC Pro I have, I have also kept the machine number for it as well (cant remember the exact number it is but it was a number over 500 which must mean they planned an initial run of AC/DC Pros of 500 before they started another run of LE or Premium or whatever) etc.....

Some of those numbers on that list look very very low...Shrek should be 500 not 50 for example......the others, who knows, but its a start !

That link Swinsky used above takes u to the end of the thread, try this one which gets u to the start if u need to.
