Title: CABINET STENCILS
Post by: Retropin on October 27, 2008, 11:52:57 PM
Ive been supplying computer cut stencils to a few people for cabinet restoration. All vectorised files are made by myself by hand tracing existing cabinet artwork with a computer. This gives extremely accurate reproductions of existing artwork.
Im now in a position to offer these to anyone who may need them. Prices are kept as low as possible.
Stencils are for a one off application and are cut from masking vinyl. Each colour has its own template, directions for order of colour added are supplied.
previously, i have been using one type of masking vinyl, but seeing as most people use standard house acrylic as the base colour of the cabinets, ive done some research and have come up with another type of mask to use.

New mask is thicker than previous and is slightly absorbant. This reduces the risk of bleed dramatically as the paint is absorbed through the edges of the mask, not underneath it.
This mask is slightly more expensive than the previous.

But it does allow me to offer 2 types of mask.

For those using enamel or automotive acrylic and as such have a perfectly smooth surface can order standard mask.

If using standard acrylic then absorbant mask is required.

These stencils are made to order. if anyone has such a requirement then please contact me through this forum.
please bear in mind that i already have a backlog of orders that MUST be finished before any new ones can be made, as such there is a short waiting list.

results of stencils can be seen below.

Awesome Gavin. Any idea on pricing or will each one be different depending on the complexity? What happens when you don't have access to a particular machine?

pricing will be $130 for standard stencils and $150 for absorbant plus shipping via courier - about $15

I only need square on pics to make the files up and cabinet dimensions. I have access to many machine pictures.
Even the most faded cabinets can be used for reference. Using pics of this and those available on IPDB, i can accurately measure sizes and ratios of the various graphics.

I only need to make a file for a machine ive not done before, some i already have.

Great stuff Gav, and also good to see someone providing a service as such.

I have quite a few 'squared on' pics around the place for older machines.
Ask if you want any photos.

Awesome stencils, out of intrest you didnt happen to buy the machine for cutting these stencils from a company in Melbourne?  Only reason I ask is that my brother in law sold a machine for manufacturing these stencils last year to a guy whom was going to make pinball stencils?

Mate, ive actually made some changes to the stencils for easier application... can you please post some pics of the capt Kidd at all??? Would love to see the finished result.
The stencil file was compared to THE ORIGINAL stencils for verification.
Capt Kidd isnt an easy stencil to use.. so any feedback Mick would be much appreciated - just PM me,

Cheers!!!

Are you able to do Lost World (1978) or would you need pics first?

Cheers Andrew.
