I did both shows..... Expo was bigger.. had more people and more machines.
Im not sure it was MORE successful... was certainly bigger but it also came with a lot of criticism.
Pinfest was smooth... any game niggles fixed straight away ( which didnt happen after Sat morning once moving games faults were sorted out) and was far bigger than i think anyone thought.
I see pinfest as a successful platform that the organisers can work on to make a much bigger show. I hope if it gets bigger it doesnt lose the "feel" that it had... was a great atmosphere and really good to be part of.
Expo was set up as an annual Australian pinball show with great expectations that came under great scrutiny and failed to run any further due to all sorts of reasons i dont need to go into.
So in terms of success.. its Pinfest.
In terms of people through the door... Expo, but then again, hold Pinfest in Sydney and see how it mushrooms instantly.
I see one show as moving forward... i see another as dead
