After I got both Guns n Roses and T2, I harassed Slash and Arnie on Twitter with mentions of the pinball machine and even sent them photos to try and get a reaction. No comment from either. At least you got to corner Flash Gordon and make him sign the apron and brochure. haha.

Fantastic work Adam. You make a good point in saying its the little things that most of us don't bother doing that can really make a game come alive.

Its going to be a great looking fg

Another small update. I have the back box door finished and back in place. As I guess is typical with a game of this age there was a lot of crap built up on all of the wires but it all cleaned up nicely. One thing I did learn while doing this was that its easier to whack a bit of solder on all of the globe holder lugs while the back box light/ display board is on its back rather then when you have it reinstalled in the back box. I made the mistake of only soldering on the globe holders connected by the tinned trace wire and not putting solder on the many globe holders which have wires connected directly to them. It's heaps harder to get that first bit of solder to take once the board is vertical so I won't do that again.

Front of the door below. Still has the original displays but they will be replaced before the games complete.

Heres a close up of one of my aluminium light shrouds have also been powder coated and installed.

That's it for the time being. Next job is moving all of the playfield switches and wires over to the new playfield and installing all of the playfield parts. Hopefully I don't bugger it up!

Great work Adam. When attaching the braid wire to the holder, did you scratch/scuff up the holder a little so the solder would take more easily on the holder? This is what I'm thinking of doing. I have found removing a bit of the plating enables the solder to take better. If its not necessary let me know so I can bypass this step for my spacies job. Thanks mate

Btw the aluminium standoffs or whatever the are called have come up fantastic

You'll find the solder will take up into the little hole on the lugs so no need to scuff them up at all. It's really very easy if your soldering while the the item is flat, the degree of difficultly increases once you start soldering items in the vertical position or close to it so I'd recommend where possible you do as much of the soldering on the flat as you can.
Yes, I was happy that I decided to go with the aluminium for the shrouds. I think they come up pretty neat too.
