Wow ZedX thats a mouthfull what is it?  If it works like you say it does it ight come in really handy

What it is, is a component of making acrylic plastic (monomer (liquid) & polymer (solid) mixed together give you a paste that then can be cured to form the plastic by methods I won't explain here.

But anyway it worked wonders on removing-dissolving all the residual glues, marks and ground in dirt on my pf using an ME pad.

PM me your details and I'll send a small bottle to you for a try and you can let us know how it went.

Mate - Try some Magic Eraser and Isocol - or Isoprophyl Alcohol.

In regards to the title of the topic, why is it a choice? The two may not be mutually exclusive...

Good luck with getting the yellowing off, hope the suggestions made to date work for you.

Has anyone tried Eucalyptus Oil to remove the residue/goo before?

When isopropyl alcohol fails and other cleaning chemicals i keep going back to Euc-Oil.
I use it to remove EVERYTHING sticky & gooey and haven't looked back.

I'm not sure how harsh it might be on old playfield paintwork, so try it in a hidden corner.

just my 3 cents  &&
MM.

How does the eucalyptus oil go as a cleaning product in general? I do have a large jar I picked up along the way and am interested to find out whether it is safe to use on most things pinball.

Have been using it for years cleaning playfields and have never had a problem with it lifting paint etc. Works awesome with ME  ^^^

Cool, sounds like we may be onto a winner, i had no idea what it might (or might not) do to old playfields.

I've had the job of pulling apart all kinds of junk over the years, especially collectible bikes, skateboards toys all covered in old stickers and goo.

Time and Time again, i found that Eucalyptus oil absolutely left Alcohol and other chemicals for dead....

If you look thru any old home-hints books, they practically recommend using Eucalyptus oil for just about everything, whitegoods, furniture, plastics scuffs, stains etc....

A 10minute job with alcohol is about 1 minute with Euc-Oil, and obviously a 1-2 hour job with alcohol is somewhere around 10-15mins with Euca-Oil.

Obviously you'd want to be careful and try it first before ruining your item(s) to be cleaned.

Good Luck!

OK, then, I will have to find the eucalyptus oil and try cleaning something! It's on a shelf somewhere. Will need to hunt down some ME as well, I guess.

Dont know what it is its not as bad as i first thought the isocol left a white film which made it look alot worse im on my way out know for photos.  The worst part is where ive cleaned looks a really nice blue and the rest doesnt so i may have to keep going now atleast with all the blue areas
