Title: DE Checkpoint Cabinet repair
Post by: v8racefan on June 09, 2013, 05:19:57 PM
Well I've ripped into the cabinet restoration of my DE Checkpoint project pinball.

Both upper and lower cabinets need some attention. I started today on the lower cabinet, teared everthing out to get to the damaged mdf floor.

I decided to go with a replacement 9mm Plywood cab floor, so after a trip to Bunnings and one 2.4m sheet here's my results from a few hours in the shed this arvo...

I let the pics tell the story, and will update this thread as I go.

Thanks Nino, Yes huge fan of vintage car racing arcade games, trouble is having enough space to store these machines, plan is to have one side of the shed lined in pins & the other side lined in vintage arcade games  %$%

Hi v8
It looks like your off to a flying start with your cab resto

I like your plan to line the shed with pins on one side and race games the other    #*#

It sounds like a fun shed to be in        Howzat

Thanks Howzat,

Yes my shed is a fun place, just not big enough  *.* only 9m long & 3m wide, hence one line only each of pins & vids

Thanks Daniel,

Yes I've never replaced a cab floor either, just learning as I go. I will probably replace the lower cab speaker as well and thinking I might pay a visit to Jaycar.

Thanks Nick,

The Sprint 2 is my grail retro driver, took me many many years to find her, this is a Australian assembled Hankin model called Indy 2.

Did you ever finish this? If so where did you source stencils for cabinet artwork? About to take delivery of a CP that I'll like to restore to original condition if possible.

Cheers,
