Hi Daniel,

I soaked in Rust Remover as well as scubbed with scourer, then wet/dry sandpaper with penetrene, then polish by hand. I took off most of what was left of the plating on coin slot, so am concerned about rust coming back quickly. Cabinet was scrubbed with alchohol and magic eraser, lost a bit of paint to get rid of yellowing.

Cheers
Dave

Yeah, been thinking along those lines. If I clear coat, it will retain a rustic look on close inspection which will be ok if I keep cabinet original, or do I re-chrome and re-paint cabinet? will post more pics of how cabinet looks after some cleaning.

Hi I-S

I guess I would have soaked for up to 3-4 hours, put a bit of work in with the wet/dry, time will tell if this will last long, but at the end of the day if the chrome has rusted, your back to bare metal.

Cheers
Dave

Lots of elbow grease to get it off, I have only done front and one side so far, lose some paint in process and uncover previous repairs %.%
This is the one side I have cleaned

Love your work Dave.

Did you use Ranex as the "rust remover" ?
