Making a plunger (ball-lane) Notch ???

Hi All,

Afte cleaning up some playfields recently and looking to build some customs, i wondered HOW is the tapered plunger lane groove cut into the playfield?

I imagine some type of bench mounted mill/drill set at the appropriate angle, and then just push the playfield along to a certain depth (similar to pushing a sheet of wood into a bench-drill or bench-plane)

This might be too hard for home setup, so i was thinking of alternatives such as routing a tapered groove, or using press-in (glue?) wire guides or similar....

any ideas ????

I don't have the answer, Marty - But when I clean them, I roll some 600 grit around the end of an old billiard cue and sand away the dirt.

I guess you could use a heavier grit ?

Do you then wax them or recoat with say estapol ?

Damn, now i have to go buy a poolset 

I'm thinking more about starting a new lane on a blank sheet of ply, rather than cleaning up an existing lane...

There's probably all kinds of tapered files in various diameters out there in woodworkers world

Ive been thinking about a good way to do this but cant come up with anything.     Bedt idea so far is a round file in a drill bit it keeps biting in and moving across.

Need to find some old footage of the factory making them with some form of tapered mill-bit?
