Title: Sydney Expo Update
Post by: illawarra_steelers on April 16, 2009, 01:14:08 PM
Hi Guys,

Just got off the 'phone with Rian and he has asked  for those guys who intend to attend the Expo banquet could they please buy their tickets as he needs to know numbers for catering.

Only 4 weeks away

He also said they have applied for a alcohol license.  *%*

What else? There will be 2 TV appearances to promote - one the Today Show the other Kerrie Ann. There is an article in the music mag 3D (I will get this and scan) and there will be a blitz on radio and TV

Already bought mine - ticket number was 028 so I guess back then (4/4/09) they had that many tickets sold. Hopefully a few more have sold since then!

Grab your ticket and make the night a success.

Just letting you guys know I'm unable to attend the upcoming pinball expo.

I have a health problem that's not going away anytime soon, and requires ongoing care over the next year!!

I was really looking forward to meeting all you pinheads at the expo. Not happy ^.^

Your health is more important than the Expo. There will be other Expos in the future, but you only have one life. Best you look after that and we will look forward to seeing you next year.

I wish you a speedy recovery.

Damn...Michael Shalhoub has a spot in the local rag...Leader....and say that machines such as the Addams family are expected to fetch $8000 PLUS at the Auction on sunday....

DAMN...$8000 plus...and add buyer charges???

DAMN..glad Im not going on sunday then..lol...still maybe I should sell off the Kiss in the carpark...better be before the auction while some people still have some cash..lol

You would expect some silly pricing on some of popular games. Goodluck to em, and if buyers go in blind its their fault.
Bring the weekend on!

Better to quote a high price as anybody who picks one up for less believes they have made a killing and leaves a happy person.

I will only be there Saturday so will miss out on the fun Sunday but will look forward to seeing what prices were reached.

Michael

I don't want to speak out of turn, but I don't see any mention of the Sydney Pinball Expo (Australia's 1st pin expo) on pinballnews.com which features all the shows around the world?  !@#
Anyway I'm sad to say I'll miss this one myself, but a couple of good mates are flitting over from Perth complete with cameras etc. !!!

I'll be interested in the prices that machines go for at the auction. I've been recording the prices from the last 3 or 4 auctions in Sydney.
Title: Re: Sydney Expo Update

What the ???????

If you read that newspaper clipping that RB posted it says about the auction : "Where sought after machines such as TAF are expected to get $8000 plus" !!!!!!

Title: Re: Sydney Expo Update
Post by: felixthadog on May 12, 2009, 10:23:33 PM
Excuse my cynicism, but I don't think selling an Addams Family (or any other machine for that matter) for $8000+ is going to promote pinball to the masses. "I want to see more people enjoy this form of entertainment" is a nice sentiment, but there is a huge difference between a $8000 pinball machine and a $500 gaming console. I think there would be a lot more people interested in pinball machines if they were affordable, but prices like those expected at the auction on Sunday will not encourage new blood into the hobby IMO.

Well i think im finally done - (almost!) everything boxed and on its way to Sydney, its been a mammoth task getting all this done in time, spent all day Sunday building timber boxes.
I didnt realise preparing for Expo would be so much work and im still adding stuff to the suitcase to bring down. Some last minute printing to be done and i think thats it.....
Hope what i have on the stall is enough - bloody hell - the boxes are big enough!

See you all on Saturday... ill be glad when im on the plane

Well it looks like Coconut Island will be ready for the weekend - spare a thought for Nug who has averaged just a few hours sleep a night this last week, trying to finish up. Last night we applied the decals - and all of a sudden the thing looks like a real pinball machine! Sorry guys, no photos until after Expo - we decided we'll leave the real unveiling for Expo, and besides - I forgot the camera last night anyway! D'oh!

Not exactly looking forward to the drive itself though, but Nug is - "Beauty, 8 hours of sleep at last!" - Looks like I'll be talking to myself..

Well,
Iam just about to board the plane flight from Mackay North Queensland down to Sydney New South.
Hanging with family till Saturday Morning then up to the Expo. I'll try and get there early, but expect to be about 10am.

I'll be wearing a faded blue Mackay Communications Systems cap and probably my much feared and detested Brisbane Broncos NRL Shirt so you'll recognise me.
My twin Bro as mentioned in an earlier posting isnt sure if hes going and it doesn't worry me so fortunately for you you may not be seeing double.

Iam really looking forward to this Expo, the pinny comp (in which I kick all your ass's in and take the prize) and seeing family and pinny mates at the same time.
So much to discuss about with pinball. I also can't wait to see CI in its glory, hopefully get a game in if possible and probably doing some wheeling and dealing as well.

I Look forward to meeting you all there. I hope they have clothing merchandise as it would make it easier to find you guys around the place.

Also King Ping is SOLD guys.
Thanks for the interest and kind offers but I got what I was asking without transporting to the Expo, it would be great to have another 5 King Pins to sell but not to be this time around.

Kind regards,

Cliffy Tucker $#$ (AKA Private Gimp)
