Title: Hello from Scotland
Post by: Spanky on July 05, 2016, 08:24:46 PM
Hi team,

I bought a 1972 Gottlieb Wild Life unseen off Gumtree two or three years ago.  Sadly the restoration is going at a glacial pace, thanks to a period of depression and lack of money which is now behind me.
She takes up most of the kitchen, and various bits are cluttering up every other room in my flat.  I've rebuilt the chime unit and had every bit of metal either rechromed or powdercoated.

I play in the local league here, although I find many of the machines far too modern for my liking.

I'm very glad to see so much EM love on this forum.

Welcome to AA and look forward to some pics of your resto.

The 1st pinball I bought was an EM and I knew nothing about pinballs at the time so it was a fun learning curve to get that machine working .. have had a few since and currently 3 of the 7 pins I own are EM's

Welcome  Spanky . I checked out the link on your event . Nice big venue you managed to get hold of.
Good range of games too , The Meteor stood out
Good luck with the Wild life .
Get a multimeter if you don't already with Beeper/Buzzer to check switches and also to measure resistance of Coils .

Work through the Steppers  IE Credit, Bonus unit, Player unit etc. And all score reels, make sure they operate smoothly/freely,
These Gum up over time and need freeing up . Usually only 1 or 2 metal pivot points that need oiling on them.

Check and clean the switches on the steppers too.
I use some metho on a piece of card to clean most switches.

When they all operate freely  , the game should 'work'. or at least it should have some life . Then you can work on from their.

It was actually a videogames weekend - we kind of snuck in as partners.  A lot of the machines were brought up buy some guys from England.  What you don't see in the pictures is the 8-bit computers, LAN gaming, consoles and weirdos dressed up as Pikachu etc.
Over 4000 people turned up over the weekend.
