For stand up arcades if you are lucky to pick up a Jamma wired machine on Ebay for say $400 (or less) (with a working screen) then you can easily buy a 1066 in 1 unit from HK direct. Last time I checked (a while ago) it was $180US for the unit and $50US to ship so for around $700 - $800 with little fuss you can do it yourself. If the screen doesnt work then you can pop in an LCD which will connect directly to the 1066 in 1 unit.

Things to watch out for. Make sure you buy a 2 player cabinet. Makes the games more fun to play and make sure the screen can be easily shifted to portrait (generally most can).

As for Cocktail cabs - I have an original with Galaga in it and I am reluctant to change this (unless I score a good Mooncresta PCB). This kits look pretty neat - but expensive.

What the!. Someone has hijacked Tony's account!  &&

As far as i know, all the new machines on eBay are Chinese. You wouldn't have much choice with a 3 sided cocktail as they are a newer design.

As for an upright, i'd be more inclined to look for a 4 player LAI Turtles cab and chuck a 1066 board in it.

My recommendations are:

- Original Hankin cocktail
- Upright LAI TMNT 4-player

OMG...what has happended to me?

Touch of the swine flu, no doubt.

MarkC also has the occasional games cabinet for sale (such as this one two player standup) which might be good for converting to a 1066 in 1.

Tony sold me his 48in1 cab last year, and was glad to be rid of it. I am surprised you want another boat anchor.  *)*

Correct me if I am wrong buy dont those 1000 in 1 things use flash memory that can be pretty dodgy?

I've been down this path several times and back.

From lowboys to Viper cabs.....1000 in ones to MAME.

I would seriously have a look at GameMasters 'Hankin style' tabletops.  They are a nice looking unit or alternatively I would go for a genuine Astro City or Namco Exceelena (not chinese knockoffs).

Depending on what games you want?  If its just Galaga + a few others then I would look at a 48 in one, rather than some cheap overseas rubbish motherboard-all-in one...

Or just run MAME yourself.  Easy enough to setup, just get the right stuff to begin with ie ArcadeVGA, J-Pac etc..

That's what I thought when I clicked those links!

Who are you, and what have you done with the Tony we all know and love?
